After conversing with someone of how great the 80's were, i started thinking of what sucked about it...to keep it real. So i'm gonna do a short, official list of personal things i like and hate about the 80's -00's. Feel free to provide your own list. Things i hate about the 80's. 1. Too many guys with long hair, mullets and rockstar's wore makeup. 2. Rotary phones, Girls that say "like" in every sentence and He-Man 3. Be kind and Rewind...being kind took too much time!! 4. The big Aids scare of mis-information...aahhh, you can catch it from saliva! 5. blowing into Nintendo carts to make them work Things i like about the 80's 1. GI joe, transformers, Voltron, Mask...that's right, Mask was cool. 2. The Arcades!! 3. Wood was actually real wood. 4. Most cars still had V8's and you could work on them yourself. 5. "Made in America" Things i hate about the 90's 1. Realizing that cassettes lose quality over time, VHS too. 2. Many alternative bands sucked or were too weird, Whale anyone? 3. Sega, Philips, GoldStar and Panasonic 4. Too many people thumping the bass in their cars constantly, anytime, anywhere. 5. Dialup and popups from pron sites, Windows crashes. DRM, you are assumed to be a pirate by every tech company. 3. China 4. Everyone else's brattyass, never been disciplined kids. 5. Too many poor remakes of 80's movies. Things i like about the 00's. 1. Thinner and lighter electronics 2. Dentists are less painful That is all
The 80's was the best decade ever for originality in Music, Movies, TV, new ideas, Everything about that decade was the best. The music was so much better than the trash that is out today, Music is terrible today with so many covers and a real lack of singer songwriters/musicians who actually play musical instruments while performing. We had proper summer sunshine back then also and none of the ****ed up rain that we know get for months through the whole summer season. Even hobbies were better like BMXing ,Skateboarding,Break dancing, Boddy popping,Boxing as a teenager, also The Golden Age of Arcade gaming, Games were so much better for there time and the Arcades was the best place to be on the planet regarding the latest technology with the best gameplay. The girlfriends i dated as a young boy most of them i met in the Arcades on Holidays/Vacation or Arcades in my home town. A great place to hangout and meet-up before going off for the day. In the 1980's i dont think there was ever aday in the week where i stayed in my house unless i was sick with a virus, I was constantly out and about. What do people do today? Planking...WTF, bunch of muppets the youth are today tbh. Definitely a Golden era and the best decade by far.
For me the 90s were both the worst and in some ways the best. The worst thing about them was the insane nationalists who dragged my country into war after bloody war, the constant fear of being drafted (we did not look forward to the postman, I can tell you). The hyperinflation which meant that your salary was worth 6 eggs in the morning, but only 3 in the afternoon and f-all a couple of days later. The best thing about the 90s were my university studies and what I could call "moderated" anarchy, which suited my anti-government sentiments just fine.
1900-1990 all great and some bad. these generations sucks there is nothing to put in the history books
loved being a kid in the 80s and loved being a teenager in the 90s. also, I had most fun gaming in the early 90s.
80s likes: Growing up with the skateboarding renaissance Growing up with the birth of personal computers Growing up with actual video game arcades 80s dislikes: I seriously thought the world would end due to nuclear war 90s likes: The end of the cold war Personal computers mature The birth of first person shooters (in retrospect): schools that weren't locked down (the things we did both as part of the curriculum (and not) were insane by today's standards) Mountain biking Snowboarding Digital cameras... seriously, a game changer Digital music... another game changer 90s dislikes: The death of skateboarding (seriously, it hasn't been the same since) Music... good new music since then (for me) seems to have become much more scarce Thought I was going to get drafted 00's-today... Holy Internet Batman! Otherwise not much has changed for me. Got married, bought a house, got a nice job, traveled a bit... What's new? Smartphones? The only reason I have one (a Blackberry) is because it's issued by work. Faster computers? Video games sure look nice. Digital music? Still playing .mp3 files from the original Napster.
