Seems like the CrossFire bridge runs out of bandwidth above 330MHz, that's why.

You could do with one bridge at about 82Hz.

If your gonna buy a qnix, might as well just go for x star. its the same exact monitor.. It even says its the same company on ebay. Plus its only $279 and free shipping..

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Matte-FREE-EXPRESS-X-STAR-DP2710LED-27-2560x1440-Samsung-PLS-Panel-Monitor-/330932578190?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item4d0d1e678e

After reading a bunch on it, i think i might just end up doing this.. It'd be stupid to pay 500~600 bucks on a LG or Samsung model.. Only thing i have seen is that the stands suck and these should get a proper mount from monoprice.. Thats what im gonna do.. I guess lol.

cheapest x-star you can get in the uk from ebay is $339, that's $42 more than I paid for qnix.

Why is using the word massive ridiculous? Dont you understand what massive means? I dont get you...care to explain?

@Eclap you dont need the extra cable unless your OC on the monitor dont work that comes with the cable that is provided. Try the monitor first then order a cable if its needed. The performance can vary from monitor to monitor.

Also i dont have to mess about with timings and such, most Overlords today go to atleast 96hz on Auto. The earlier ones you had to fiddle with timings/settings etc. Mine goes to 120hz on auto.:)

They're the same, xstar is more expensive to get in the UK. Xstar has a different stand.

LOL I think you misunderstood me. I was agreeing with you. 60Hz no vsync looks a bit stuttery in certain situations in front of 100Hz.

Will do. Yasamoka hit 110hz with his crossfire setup though.

Looking forward to the results, how long is your estimated delivery? To be honest, I've been a bit confused about this entire push for 4K for awhile. The logical step from 1080p in my eyes has always been 1440p. It's managable with current single card solutions and is a massive upgrade from 1080. It's like the big companies want to leapfrog a step imo.

Anyhow, I'm off to chug a mug of coffee before I head out. Got an interview in just over an hour, so wish me luck!

Delivery 27th (next Wednesday) onwards. Good luck with the interview, you'll smash it. Let us know how it goes. Nothing like browsing guru before a job interview :)

    Oh ok my bad.:)
Yeah i used to hear people like Agent A01 saying "60hz was like a slideshow etc cause of 120hz" and i used to think "It cant be that much different" but Agent A01 was right. It is nice to run at 100hz/120hz with vsync locked on and get no tearing while being really smooth.

To all you people buying a 120hz IPS...You will not regret it:)

What 100Hz wall? I've never seen that. There are loads of people with AMD cards and CF running 120Hz. I hit 117Hz and got slight artifacts at 120Hz which seems to come from my cable.

CF runs the same no matter the overclocks.

I'm running 109Hz now at auto since my timings were apparently too tight. They were working on Windows 8 though. I'll relax them a bit and crank the refresh rate above 110Hz now.

OK so I've been doing some OCing and tightening timings.

I got to 117Hz @ the following timings:

120Hz gives me a pixel clock of 459.86MHz and a 2 vertical lines of artifacting pixels. Most likely a cable issue as I'm still on the stock cable.

Gamma shift continues further on from 110Hz to 117Hz. When I set to 117Hz and applied the 110Hz color profile, I felt the monitor was ever so slightly darker. Popped over to http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gamma_calibration.php and gamma was (visually) about 2.3 - 2.4 @ 117Hz, 2.2 @ 110Hz.

Measured gamma quickly at 110Hz (a 30s test with black, grey 127, and white patches) and 117Hz. 110Hz gave 2.18 gamma, and 117Hz gave 2.34 gamma. Spot on.

When (if) I get to a flat 120Hz I'll calibrate for that as well. No sense calibrating for 117Hz as it will (may) not be a standard refresh rate that I'll be using.

Some photos coming right up of the monitor at: (EDIT: at night, right now the colors will be affected by the current ambient light)
    1) 60Hz - no color profile
    2) 60Hz - 60Hz color profile
    3) 96Hz - no color profile
    4) 96Hz - 96Hz color profile
    5) 110Hz - no color profile
    6) 110Hz - 110Hz color profile
    7) 117Hz - no color profile
    8) 117Hz - 110Hz color profile

@Overlord Tempest users, Agent-A01, Veteran, & others: How does the Overlord Tempest respond to high overclocks which it cannot handle? Let's say you top out at 108Hz or something, how does the monitor behave after that? Black screens, corruption, scan lines, vertical lines, or what? Do the colors change with overclocking? I've heard the IPS monitors (Catleap?) have scan line brightening as a side effect in contrast with the PLS gamma shift. I'd love to know if that is all due to the PCB.
