    Hello,

I googled it but can't seem to find much definitive for benchmarks on this. One person said there was a big difference but their system info shows that on the PCIe 2.0 system he didn't have SLI enabled so it is hard to take that as credible.

I have a i7-x990 processor so I'm hoping I don't need to change out my processor, motherboard and memory just go take advantage of a couple of 780s or titans

with a 990x CPU you wont be bottlenecked at all as long as you overclock it to 4.0GHz at least. But this being a six-core CPU I don't see why it would bottneck anything.

Only at high resolution you will notice difference 2.0 vs 3.0.

Thanks - I typically do 1920 x 1200 is that considered high? Is there any place to see how much an effect it has in benchmarks?

You might lose a few fps but I wouldn't say it was important.

7970 CF gained around 10-15fps in a couple of benchmarks with PCI-E 3.0 enabled....

Thanks - can you point to that source? The context of 10-15 is very important unless it is 10-15 on top of 120. If Crysis 3 only gets around 30fps - 10-15 FPS additional would be very important.

At your resolution the difference will be much less pronounced

Hilbert tested pci 2.0 vs 3.0 in one of the reviews and it was 2-3fps. As you go higher in resolution the fps gains increase. I cannot remember what review it was.
