So I am looking at doing a new build but it has been well over 4 yrs since my last and to say I am rusty is an understatement...

What would be a good bang for buck mainly gaming LGA 2011 motherboard atm and a CPU to match?

Thanks kindly for any help guys and gals.

Asus/Gigabyte/Asrock. 3930K is the CPU to go for.

How many graphics cards are you going to use?

If you're using 1 or 2, whatever they are, then you might be better off with a Z77 build. The 3930K isn't going to really increase gaming performance.

Thats exactly what I was thinking.

I picked up my Sandy 2700K for £225 and they overclock like warriors.

If you had not mentioned bang for your buck... but as you did, seriously consider Z77 and put some more money into GPU power.

    Just a thought.

And I hate to say it but this P8Z77 is solid enough as well tbh.

A 3930k will give u better minimum frame drops in CPU intensive games ;)
    I came to 3930k 2011 from a 3570k z77 platform

    In hitman 2 everything maxed
    3570k at 4.8ghz 50 fps minimum
    3930k at 4.8ghz 70 fps minimum

Crisis 3 also liked the better processor alot
    Most new titles do
You decide but this is a problem if your sensitive to frame drops and play vsynced

Was going to pick up 2 7970's for this build. 500gb WD BLACK for storage and still deciding on my SSD drive. Will be reusing my TAGAN 1100W.

So if I went the Z77 option i was looking at= ASRock Fatal1ty Z77 Professional Motherboard with Intel Core i7 3770K cpu. or should I just pay the little extra and go the LGA 2011 options?

If ya do some video transcoding and stuff it might be worth it.

If this is true, like fully, there would be no contest for me, in fact, I am now (seriously) considering selling everything and going 3930K - as the only thing I care about in all of games, is 1 frame below 60... as I use 60hz 60FPS VSYNC and cannot play with FPS drops.

Are you sure HT did not help a bit? I (oddly) have read several reports in Crysis 3 HT helps, I notice you came from a 3570K ?

I don't do any video trans-coding just games, internet and movies.

Might be better with a 3770K/Z77 board or 4XXXK/Z87 board when they come out, shouldne be too long now.
