FYI it uses gamefly's own client and not steam, origin or whatever.

Yea, free is good, but not enough to merit giving my credit card info to them

I already have a gamefly account so no biggie here. However, I already own the game on disk but I figured, why not have it on digital download as well.

First Battlefield 1942 and now Bioshock... I can't wait to hear about the next freebie games!!! :D

And well it seems to be capable of running without GameFly active once its been activated, so I guess the answer is no? Not crippled?

Its cool they offer Bioshock for free, but thats about all I would pay for this game in the first place lol. I just didn't care for Bioshock at all and thought it was waaay overhyped and overrated. I do like GameFly a lot for digital downloads though. They always have great 75% off sales on stuff, and I highly recommend that any gamers here subscribe to their email feed for those deals.

Activated? That implies DRM, so definitely won't be signing up!!

What game in the last half decade does not have some form of DRM?

You better get used to it, because this is a battle the gamers will lose. If you continue in an attempt avoid DRM, you just won't be able to play most of the games you want to play.

As they are all retro games they don't really count as most of them didn't even have DRM to begin with if any of them did at all.

Just get it off piratebay. I mean, it's free now so they can't complain about hurting profits or hurting the developers, and it saves all that activation BS.

No, I'm not promoting Piracy, but in this case, it may not hurt.

Not wholly true! If you look at the collections they release from major publishers a lot of the titles had Safedisc or SecuROM as the DRM when released. Not all are 'retro' either: Assassins Creed, The Witcher 1 & 2, Torchlight and the recently added Tell Tales Games catalogue show they don't just do retro.

If I can grab a DRM free copy of a game I own I do, If I can't then I don't, so no big loss.

@Mikedogg: I own it on Steam, I only want legit ways to get DRM free games hence I use GOG if they have a DRM free version of a game I own!
