Another rip-off. My card is 100USD less expensive and has about the same performance. Actually, gets better scores in 3DMark03 AND 3DMark05. (I know mine is PCIe, but 100USD extra???)

Same with my 6800GT its about the same performance! Ripping us of with 16 pipes, where are the 20 or 24 Piped AGP cards!

I was really hoping that the 7800GS would basically be the 7800gt in AGP guise. (20x1, 7)

I am a tad dissapointed with the scores it seems to be getting when you take into account that the G70 core is meant to be more efficient than the NV40 6800 series.

I know I no longer run AGP so I can't fully comment on its value but it does seem to be quite expensive when you take into consideration AGP/PCI is being phased out in favour of PCI-E.

On the off side however it was a a great review by Hilbert once again (but seriously man how did you manage to miss that plastic cover on the card? lol :))

I'm sorry but this is way overpriced. I bought a eVGA GT OC, the fastest one, for only $340 and that included shipping and taxes. And this 7800 GS costs $350?

like kenny said, this card is way overpriced. you can even pick up a decent pci-e board and a 7800gt for the same price.

the problem is that some of us have athlon xp's and if we get a new pci-e board, we will also have to get a new cpu, which puts the total cost of upgrade somewhere around $500-600 instead of $200-300

As Xaser posted, £270.19 for a 7800GS??? WTF! you can get a fully fledged 7800GT for around £210. There really is no point buying this card, PCIe is the only option left for people still using agp

Just for reference, I upgraded from a A64 3000 AGP system to an Opteron 2.8 PCIe system for £0. Though this was down to my 6800GT selling for £190, but this does show it's entirely possible to step up without having to cough up extra bucks. Buying a 7800GS is just shooting yourself in the foot.

Which is why maybe its time to put that old horse down. Why use a new card with such an old cpu?

ive seen one for £215 before shipping. i wish hilbert had shown the oc'd 03 and 05 scores with a core and memory of 480,1400 im sure it would out perform a 6800u and that is with a stock cooler i bet that thing would hit 500 with the right settings

i know that some cant get a pci-e board for their proc, but still, this card is way overpriced.
i personally think that that is a deliberate move from nv to get people to pci-e, they can say that they listened to us and brought out another agp card, but they set it at a price that no-one that can go pci-e will buy.

My 6800GT OC outperforms the 7800GS, but as with getting a new mobo, i plan on gettin an ASRock Mobo with AGP and PCI-e slot, and getting an AMD 64 Opty or Athlon in about a year or so.. That way, i can upgrade to a PCI-e card later, in about 2 years, and keep jumping from there :)

its not expensive because it performs close to the 6800gt, its expensive because you can get a 7800gt for the same price if you have pci-e.

...but you can't get a 7800gs with $200 anyway.. If you had enough moolah for a 7800gs then upgrading to PCIe wouldn't be too difficult with that amount

Newegg has a deal for a eVGA 7800 GT with mobo for 350, yeah its not the greatest board but at least you can get a free board. You can get a Athlon 64 3000 for under 200 (i bought mine a year ago for 200 so they gotta be cheaper now) and since its highly overclockable, you'd be getting a massive speed improvement.
