Not sure if this is right.... So I got the Gigabyte G1 Gaming 1080 today. Benched it on default Fire Strike and got 14.8k points. I looked at Guru's review of the same card here. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/gigabyte_geforce_gtx_1080_g1_gaming_review,28.html and I see it got 19k Ok so I know my CPU isn't the same as the reviewed but its not totally slow and I know my ram is slower too, but should these 2 differences added up to a 4k deficit? Win 10 64bit and the latest Nvida drivers out today. Rest of parts in profile on side there... Nothings overclocked. If this seems legit then that's fine...
The FireStrike P score is very CPU bound. Though your processor will be absolutely fine for gaming, in FireStrike it shows alright. We run 8 cores at 4.4 GHz you do 4 at 3.8 Ghz I think the 3820 is. Then there's platform difference (efficiency), PCIe Gen 2.0 / 3.0 (minor differences) faster memory (quad-channel) etc, all these things add up a bit here and there. Do yourself a favor, check the GPU score with a more GPU bound test like Time Spy and compare here.
Thanks for the reply Hilbert. I did the time Time Spy BM and got a graphics score of 7303 so I guess that's not to bad. I'll probably look at getting one of the new Intel Kaby Lake CPUs and some decent speed DDR4 ram.
