Mmmmmm SM4.0. Blood looks good in Bioshock and WGF 2.0 textures look great. I hear smoke effects and explosions can run up to 6 times as fast with WGF 2.0.
So is WGF 2.0 still going to be released after Vista ships? Vista will apparently only have WGF 1.0 when it launches and WGF 2.0 will come later with an update. WGF 2.0 is needed for all the effects D3D 10/DX10/DX Next (or what ever they name it next) hardware can run.

I thought Microsoft dropped the use of WGF and stuck with Directx.

As far as I know Microsoft does not use that name anymore.

It really seems so, no difference from what I see now when I play.
I really dunno what will be added with that 'dx10 support' for this game.. will the visuals increase too or just the speed of that game engine?

I still think that crysis is gonna be the best DX10 game, just looking at the demos the gameplay looks sweet.

Hey eve online dx10 haven't played that for a long while. Got really pissed at it, some dick kept killin me lost all my money :( sorta like that episode of southpark and WoW, only i just f*cked it off rather than spendin all my time gettin higher levels to beat him.

Its not incorrectly named DX10. MS changed the name to DX10 themselves. Even load up windows Vista and take a look...says DX10 :p

    Really?

Thanks for informing me about this change, I guess consumers were not adapting fast enough to the new name and they reverted back to the traditional scheme.

Wont look any different just like Crysis, looks exactly the same as those DX9 vids of it running on x1900's, just like all DX10 games, hardly be any differences, ill get a DX10 card in about a year when DX10 is being used more, looks a lot different to DX9, and more than a couple of games are out using it. :D

I think in Crýsis it will be a transition like from SM1.0 to SM2.0 in Far Cry. Little differences, but substancial ones.

no i think there will a difference, but probably not directly from dx10. what i mean is dx10 will give performance increases right. from this performance increase game developers can add in more eye candy, without sacrificing much performance. so at the end of the day, performance will be the same with dx10 compared to dx9, but visuals will increase. just my opinion.
