Sapphire HD 4650 - drivers 10.5, ATT latest beta
used "detect clocks via software" tweak during install as suggested in several posts

I cant enter Overclocking setting page, ATT just gets hung and uses 50% of CPU, until I terminate process via task manager

Ray Adams: I narrowed the problem by a bit - without ATT running suspend works.

Could you point me to some old ATT beta builds, which might resolve my issue? Thanks.

Edit: I was able to get suspend working with ATT by disabling Reset clocks before suspend mode in Advanced Options (under overclocking configuration).

Please, is there way to solve this, Ray Adams? Those BSODs? Thanks for help.

I can not fix something without first finding whats wrong :) Can you give me minidump file from one of the BSODs?

Right, but the thing is that no minidump is created :( I checked paging file (set to 1GB), also system crash options, but I can't make system to make one. There's nothing regarding BSOD in Event Log too :(

    Hi!

I have an ATI 5870 board, is ATT (beta) ready for the hd5k series? I'm missing ATT...
    (OS Win 7 64bit)

    Thanks

2 mnn - Did you check windows\minidump folder?

2 angelico - I see problems in SysInfo report. :( But you enabled software method to read clocks. What about standard method? BSOD? Hang or?

Ray Adams: Apparently I had disabled Error Reporting in registry and that was preventing from creating minidump.

Here it is, hope you can get something useful from it (I renamed the extension).

    @Ray
Yes I have enabled it as suggested by few forum users. and it works now in detecting proper clock.

If I disable it I still cant enter OC page on latest beta/stable build, and it doesnt detect my freqs properly. On like 1 month older version of att , 1.6.9.1472 i think i could enter OC page but didnt try enabling software detection method with that one. Will try it out later tonight

I checked minidump file. Reported problem is located in ATI driver, not ATT. So I have no idea what could be wrong.

Means that the card itself is somehow "damaged" or otherwise modified?

Because, older drivers (and/or older builds of ATT) would definitely have to solve this, don't they?

    Hi,

i have Win7 32bit, ATT 1.6.9.1486 and a HD 3850 AGP Card. There is some strange behavior when i use the 2D/3D Auto Overclocking Feature.

I created a 2D Profile for Underclocking reasons. Works fine, Card runs stable.
I created a 3D Profile with the Default Clocks of the Card. Every Time i switch from 2D to 3D the Temperature of my Card rises from 47° C to 70°C! (idle) o_O
(Even then i load the 3D Profile manually)

Without the 2D/3D Profiles enabled, the Card runs fine with the Default Clocks, Temp around 47° C (idle).
I tried older versions of ATT, same behavior. Whats up with that?

ps. For what is the Option "Apply Fix for Auto Fan Mode on 3xxx Boards"?

Are you sure your temperature under 3D load without ATT not 70C? :) Have nothing to say about 3D clocks in idle environment.

2 Irontiger - Did you test it? Did you read readme.htm file?

    Hi,

no, because I'm not sure if it could cause any serious problems. That's why I'm asking right now. So if I get you right ("did you test it?") I can try it without any concerns?

    Thanks

Example 1: I start Game A with Default Clocks, no Profiles. Idle Temp 46°C, Temp after 3 Hours of straight gaming 64°C.

Example 2: I activate Auto Overclocking, with 2 Profiles (2D Underclocked, 3D Default Clocks!). After Game A starts, 3D Profile kicks in - Temp goes up to 70°C and after 1 Hour of straight gaming the Temp. is by over 80°C.

So, to answer your Question - without the Profile"switch" the Temp. is just fine.

ps. For what is the Option "Apply Fix for Auto Fan Mode on 3xxx Boards"?

    Requests:
-Any way to make it so the user can clock video cards independant from each other when in CrossFire? Not to run at those speeds while in 3D, but so I can find the highest OCs possible with out having to remove one of the cards :) A drop-down menu with "<GPU> #" would suffice for me! Not sure if there would be any issue with multi-GPU cards though like a 5970. If it's not possible though, no big deal!

-Ability to control memory timings & voltages! =} I know that I, at least sort of, could change the memory voltages on my x1950 Pro. I had to drastically change them for it to actually do anything, otherwise when I hit apply they wouldn't take. I'd have to change them something like 0.175v before it would apply, and seems to me I could adjust them in .005v increments heh

-If known, the whole name of the option in the "New AA and AF Methods" area instead of the acronym would be nice! Once upon a time I knew of a few's meanings, but since then I've forgotten. There was a forum post somewhere (here?) that had quite a few of them explained, if anyone knows of the one I'm talking about... Maybe adding in a short description (or a hover-over hint popup) at the very least?

-This one is kind of a silly one, but a long time ago there was a program by Colorless that showed AA's effects (called D3D FSAA Viewer), but it only worked by pre-selecting the AA in the program's options. If there was a way to do something like ATi's preview, but showed the ACTUAL real-time effect of AA that would be sweet! Or maybe an OSD option that reports what AA is actually being used by the API, instead of what AA is 'turned on' in CCC or ATT. Because short of watching the OSD FPS in a game, some AA methods are showing no benefit and it makes me wonder if they are actually working or not :\ Like in Race Driver GRID, none of the AA selected in CCC work in game, you have to choose what they have for options. Which sucks since in the program settings file it lists 16xmsaa but it won't let me chose it :( But if I select Edge Detect it'll drop the FPS yet I can't tell any diff. Similarly turning on AAA and TAA impacts FPS none so I'm questioning if it's actually on! The biggest impact is turning on Super-sample AA, which will drop the FPS from 140 to 45, yet there is zero visual gain???

    Questions:
-In the Overclocking section, if the only voltages available are .950 through 1.200, is that a limitation of the card? I hate hoping between different programs to satisfy needs, but it seems like Afterburner allows for lower and higher voltages.

-Was going to put this in Requests but might be a limitation of my card. Is the current beta still allowing for custom fan profiles? I only have "Manual" and "Automatic" for options. Another ability Afterburner has for me that ATT doesn't :(

-Might not be something you can answer, but the Advanced Tweaks Crossfire section, specifically the HCF and HybridCF. Are those options that work with HD4290 IGP and HD5770s? I've been seeing if there is a chance to get Hybrid CFX to work with my two 5770s, not because I think it'll boost performance but just because I have them and think it'd be interesting to tinker with :p I've tried ticking them, but doesn't seem to even hurt performance. ATi has always been pretty vague as to what cards WILL work in Hybrid -_-

-Is the option to select only 8xAA with ATT, while in Crossfire, a limitation of the program or just not programed IN? CCC allows me to select 16x but in ATT it just shows up as 8x :\

I'm sure there is more, but I've rambled enough! Thanks for a great program and your time :)

IronTiger: Short of a crash every time windows loads, as a result of ATT being set to auto-run on window's boot, I can't think of any "serious problem" you would encounter. Even if the above happens, as it did with me after going from a Socket 939 with X1950 to my AM3 with the HD4290 IGP, it isn't even serious since you can simply boot into safe mode and run msconfig to turn off ATT ;) Since in Vista and Win7, there is no actual hardware communication with software (lack of the Hardware Abstraction Layer, or HAL, thus why DirectSound and EAX don't work outside of being exported to OpenAL) to do real hardware damage, at least that is my understanding. I'm running 2x HD5770s with zero problems, overclocking works fine, even auto-clocks!

    Thanks Formula350,

that's what I wanted to hear. As long as my hardware is on the save site, I don't see any problems in testing (and in serious SW problems there are backups to solve them ;) ).

    Thanks a lot
