OK i have my CPU OC 2.53ghz to 3.0ghz. I have Kingston PC2700 Value ram timings 2.5 3 3 7 and ratio 1:1 Now i've just been given some Kingston Hyper X KHX3200A/512 DDR, PC 3200's which have timings of 2 3 2 6. What timings should i be looking at , to get best performance ?
Well ofcourse the lower the numbers the better the performance but if you got too low you would risk stability. As a general rule the first 3 numbers add up to = the 4th (+ or - 1) so 2-3-2 for example would = 7 (6 or 8). With Hyper X I would think that you could go with tighter timings at 2-2-2-6 and be stable with good performance. You will haf to try different settings and see what works for your system. I have Kingston Value ram with stock timings at 3-3-3- (9?). I know I can run stable at 2.5-3-3 but if I try 2-3-3 my system wont boot. If I try 2.5-2-2 my system wont boot. Right now I am running at 2.5-3-3-8, best I can prolly do is 2.5-3-3-7...
Just being curious, i've set the settings too 2 3 2 6. But would it better putting all the memory in and have them set at 2.5 3 3 7. Then i'll have 2gb, 2 x Kingston Value PC2700, 2 x HyperX PC3200. Just a thought
O I didnt realize you wanted to run the Hyper X and ValueRam together, I thought it was all HyperX. Your ValueRam runs at PC2700 (3-3-3) and your HyperX runs at PC3200 (2-2-2). If you try to run both at the same time the HyperX memory will run at the ValueRam speed. Timing wont even matter cause you are slower from the start. The best solution is to not even use the ValueRam at all. ONLY use the HyperX memory. Adjust your timings to 2-2-2-6 manually in your bios. Your ValueRam PC2700 ram wont run at PC3200 speeds. With the Hyper X your memory will run faster than the ValueRam ever could at faster timings than the Valueram could ever hit. Lose the ValueRam and only use the HyperX at nice tight timings...
