Another option is you can go the route of a external dac amp, there lot of good ones which i sure you can afford.

ok so I ordered the sound blaster z. Will be coming on Monday I hope. I'm running a cooler master sniper and 2x twin frozr3 cards. Do you guys think the Sound card will fit in my motherboard?

Can I install the card in the 3rd PCIe slot or will that make my other gpu's work at slower speed?

well it fit, and you will have a card ready if you decide to move to a upper level (hd600 and more)

    here is the pictures

Don't comment on the dual sli bridge. I just want to be weird. :nerd:

I can either put the card at the bottom but not sure if it will limit my graphics cards speed, or between the cards or on the top. but here is some pictures of my rig and issues

This is where i will install it if i have to put it on top of my top GPU. Behind the cable there is a PCI-e 1x slot but I'm afraid my cpu cooling fan might block it.

The next picture is between my display cards. seeing as the fan sticks out a bit scared that it might block my GPU fan from turning and maybe heat but I'm sure the heat wont be issue if the fan can turn

The next 2 images shows my bottom pci-e 16x. As you can see I have a power supply at the bottom that's a bit close to the slot. So I have a bit of an issue here. But will it be limiting my Graphics cards bandwidth or will it operate as any of the other PCI-e 1x Slots

So As you guys can see I 'm a bit worried that I ordered the card and won't be able to use it at all unless I have one less card. At least i see the back of the Sound blaster Z is somewhat clean. no circuitry on the back of the card unlike my old xonar DG sound card. Wish i had gone with the corsair H100 in the first place.

It should fit, it's going to be really close.

won't that slot limit the speed of the other cards. I'm only on a i5-2500k not ivy bridge.

What motherboard you have exactly? Definitely not the one in your sig, since that should look like this:
Also there's no difference when it comes to SB vs. IB. IB just supports 3.0 but doesn't have more lanes. Without knowing the motherboard, it's not really easy to say what will happen.

In that case it would limit to 8/4/4 according to MSI.

So I guess my only option is to install the sound card inbetween the 2 display cards. i think I will first test it. Maybe it will work if I install it in the bottom slot.

It will work but wouldn't be optimal for sli though it's not really optimal for thermal reasons to sandwich it between two card either.
