http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/apple_unveils_new_mac_pro.html http://www.apple.com/mac-pro/ Nice website design.
It's pretty good from the looks of it and WWDC as a whole too! I wish OS X also got a refresh the way iOS received.
This is as silly as the Mac cube. Designed and assembled in the US. They forgot to mention the parts are produced in China. :3eyes: Anyway, the design is nuts and clearly not upgradeable, the specs are weak... it just looks like a disaster waiting to happen.
More interested in how much price premium APPLE gona try tag that with but the Apple fanatics will just hand over there money anyway. That is the weirdest pc I seen to date and dont look to be upgradeable in anyway, but are mant Apple PC upgradeable?
Not sure we can call this weak, Xeon 12cores / 24Threads + 2x FirePro S9000. Now the problem is i really dont see why anyone will pay so much on Apple, when they can get an upgradable design with standard workstation. Upgrade easely rams, processors, GPU's... SSD / HDD.. Some can like the design.. ( huum not me, having a turbine type like that, really strange. you put this on the side of the desk, and anyone will think this is the trash. You can allready prepare a stickers for put on it: " Im not a trash, Im an Apple ". ) I even remember they was a PC brand who have done the exact same design some years ago ( this one was red or blue, white or Black ). At least on the old MacPro, you was able to upgrade and change ( some ) hardware yourself. The most funny will be the price.
Only upgradable part is the ram, even uses a custom ssd so you can't do that yourself, have to buy a custom apple ssd which you know will cost at least 5x more...
Well if it was the best of the best SSD, price will not be a problem, but sadly they was allways old SSD with average performance.
I'm sure most Apple fans are pissed about this. The point of getting a Mac Pro is for upgrading the hardware. Designing a computer to look like a soda can is bull****. They should save that for the Mac Mini.
That maximum possible build will probably cost over $9000 if it keeps with tradition... it will not be overclockable so there goes 30%-40% of its power out the window and those 2x FirePro S9000s will be dinosaurs quickly enough. Would be nice if they could be replaced! Isn't a big selling point of the Mac Pro that you could upgrade parts?... like any normal PC. It looks like a cross between a trashcan and a dildo, I think it's appropriate.
It's early time to discuss price. I watched the keynote, and i was surprised to see the new Mac Pro. Now,design shape and form are easily to criticise...Or to praise. How much could cost building a normal computer with the same specs? If Maverick(Osx 10.9)offers dual card support, well, one can wait a bit and see what Tonymac will have in store .... As before, nobody forces you into buying it.For each product, there is its customer. Disaster waiting to happen?Yes,Apple is like that, but look, they sold many disasters. It is all about numbers, and screw royally your customers.
Well I was roughly looking at the specs and it was using Xeons and if it says up to "12" cores then they may be using 2x6core ones as the specific chipset had 2-4-6-8 configuration. The video card was dual firepros so workstation easily 1k each and the ssd with the other stuff added on with the apple logo can easily get $6k+
Saddest thing about it is that all those idiots who believe apple is great and cool are gonna pay big bucks for this unupgradeable, overpriced trashcan and in the end it's gonna be a success..but hey, Mcdonald is still the most sold hamburger in the world yet it's crap..more and more I am imagining the world without average americans
