    Peek into section 2.1.2 in the beginning of thus thread. CHL8228 path can be used to program 8225 as well, the chips are register-compatible.

    ^^^ That was fast, thank you! :)

    After re-reading whole first page of this thread for few times yesterday/today and after looking at datasheets of CHL8225/8228/8225G/8228G... I was around 90% sure I could use registers from CLH8228 for CHL8225G, but...

    But I was waiting for your confirmation, just to be sure for those 10% :)

    Still at work, maybe I'm gonna try later this evening, if my younger kid allows me to do so on his gaming rig where that PowerColor R9 270X with CHL8225G is located, kids and weekend multiplayer all day/night long... If not tonight then tomorrow afternoon for sure, gonna back here with report if all goes well so that you can add card info to the third party hardware database.

    Alex, thank you once again!

    Quick update...

    I was doing some CHL8225G experiments with settings made for CHL8228 few hours ago, was doing it in a hurry (10 minutes or so) because had to go somewhere.

    I've made it to unlock voltage control for GPU and memory, for GPU was able to up voltage to the 1.3V (I'm a bit suspicious about that, afaik 1.25V is sw limit), at least 1.3V was shown on MSI AB's OSD while running Unigine Valley. Wasn't raising memory voltage, it was at 1.6V during Valley and that also made me a bit suspicious, for Hynix H5GQ2H24AFR-T2C mem chips (stock 5.0Gbps, but on this card they are running at 5.6Gbps) it should be 1.5V stock, maybe PowerColor upprd Vmem from 1.5V to 1.6V for those mem chips to be able to run stable at 5.6Gbps, just guessing.

    I wasn't using VDDC_CHL8228_Defaults and MVDDC_CHL8228_Defaults in oem2 file because values made for for CHL8228, CHL8225A or CHL8225B probably won't fit for CHL8225G, not sure about that, need more time to do some research about that.

    Hope I would be able to grab some free time tommorow and do some more experiments, some stress tests with GPU @ 1200MHz+ and 1.25V... I'll be back with report if everything goes well or if I get stucked somewhere.

    So, got an ic2dump of the card I've mentioned in the bug report thread/new thread I made (lost voltage control...), MSI R9 280x.

    From what I can see, it should be an CHiL CHL8228 controller? Just as the techpowerup review says.
    What I still can't understand though is why the voltage control would stop working after upgrading afterburner to 4.1.1 or newer.

    Haven't yet had the time to experiment with adding it to database, will have to do it next time.

    Edit: So, managed to solve it. First off, didn't know the "i" button actually showed which voltage controller you're using, very helpful. Wasn't CHL8228, but IR3567B.
    That didn't help me though, put in all the correct stuff, but nothing. Changed around some variables, still nothing.
    What actually helped in the end was enabling "extend official overclocking limits", then it started working on standard again. Tried third party and it worked there too, so it was the correct stuff, but for whatever reason it needs that option ticked to work now.

    Device in your dump is not 8228G. Refer to documentation chapter 2.1.2, CHL8228 device identification registers are provided there. In addtion to that, your definition lacks VDDC_CHL8228_Defaults field.

    You were right. It is not 8228G. It IR3567B

    [IMG]

    Variant that works:

    Code:
    ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
    ; Custom design XFX ATI series
    ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

    Hi unwinder,

    Is this "uP1983A voltage controller" supported too?

    Is it possible there is no middle 1.20v ground? I can either select 1.187v or 1.212v or 1.230v

    No, otherwise it would be listed in the head of the thread.

    my bad, I saw it was missing just wasn't 100% sure, I never really checked that before :nerd:

    Any chance to add it to custom list?
    Here is my i2c dump,

    I see, was thinking if you could please add it to that 3rd party e.g.evga, Asus, etc, list in post #2 bellow or are those listed because MSI also uses such custom sensors?

    It is not "Unwinder doesnt seem to want to add it to unsupported custom list or idk.." case like you complain in other thread, invest some time in reading the thread from beginning. I stop replying, sorry.

    i m using gigabyte r9 270x oc and i used aida64 ati smbus dump because i couldnt get i2c dump tool...
    so after reading older post i used this:
    ;OEM

    [VEN_1002&DEV_6810&SUBSYS_22721458&REV_00]

    ; Gigabyte R9 270X OC

    Desc = Gigabyte R9 270X OC
    VDDC_IR3567B_Detection = 6:30h
    VDDC_IR3567B_Output = 0

    which unlocked voltage slider in AB but even if i increase voltage suppose 13mv and try to benchmark with valley max volt still shows 1206mV instead of 1219mV in AB and also hwmonitor....help pls... thnx all in advance
