Lets just hope Mantel gets more play than OpenGL.

If its gets to play in BF4 its good for me , for now of course.
As for now my "high end" GPU strugles to maintain 60FPS in BF4....

Every recent EA game sucked. Be it Battlefield, Need for Speed, Dead Space or anything else. And things aren't going to change, at least not in a good way. At least that's what they said.
    Making this G v. R again, aren't you? :3eyes:

I am going to tweet this guy and tell him to save it till those games and mantle come out.
I am still pissed that "bf3 was designed around pc platform first and for most"

Wow painting one hell of a picture there. I seriously doubt being a nvidia fanboy would make a difference while gaming.

His comment was a digg at EA not AMD.

do we know for a fact that it'll only be EA games that'll support mantle?

It seems as though AMD worked hand and hand with DICE and FB3.0 was developed along side Mantle so for now it's EA only but if it works AMD said it was an open API iirc.

Mantle isn't supported by Sony or Microsoft on XB720 which really sucks.

If all console games used Mantle, it's more than likely that the PC ports will also use Mantle and we could truly move forwards. As it is, Microsoft are bi-polar because it bypasses D3D (making Linux gaming more likely in the furure) but on Xbox it could give them a distinct advantage over Sony in the console market.

Sony are making it easy for Microsoft by also not supporting mantle, no idea why.

So at the moment, Mantle, even though it has great potential, risks going the way of PhysX, a technology that should be at the core of every game but is crippled by corporate competition which instead of advancing PC gaming, is holding it back.

In that case, the amount of PhysX supported games would be doubled. ;)

Have to agree. I think the last game of EA's i really enjoyed would of been Medal of Honor Airborne.

I watched LinusTechTips 290x review this morning and he said that while Mantle isn't the same api that runs on xbone and ps4, it's similar in many ways and may lead to easier optimization for GCN cards when it comes to porting over to PC. He also said that from what he gathers, there will be a further announcement by AMD about more Mantle games coming in November.

Mantle is not linked to game but to 3D engines.
Since Frostbite3 will support Mantle there is no reason that a game using that engine will not activate the mantle support. (except maybe for marketing reasons)

I hope that Direct3D optimization will still remain a focus for that type of engine because Intel/Nvidia cards could be heavily impacted.
