I have a 7870 Tahiti LE card atm. And after xmas I think I might get a 2nd one (only £130) and going crossfire. Or is it worth selling this card and getting a 270X or something? Since 1 card is going to give less issues vs dual gpu.
Well, if you buy a second one you'll have to deal with the inherent crossfire/sli issues. If you were to buy a single new card, I'd suggest the 280x instead of the 270x because looking in the review, the 270x is only a few fps ahead of the 7870.
7870 XT is roughly equal to 270X. So getting a 270X makes no sense at all. Either get a second 7870 XT or sell current and get a single fast card.
Me neither, 290 at least. It will be more of a sidegrade. Sure you get a lil more fps but.. not worth it. So either 290 or another 7870 XT. +OC the crap outta em both. I'd go single 290 route I think. Will serve you a tad better I think. Wait for custom cards perhaps? I'm sure the first custom cards will be out by December.. I hope? (Damn it's already almost 2014.. wtf)
Why a 280X? Not really a huge increase over a Tahiti LE based 7870. 280X is Tahiti..... Would make more sense to get a 290...
290 minimum, wait for custom coolers too if you prefer to do your baking in the kitchen. No sence in buying a 280x as its just a 7970. When you upgrade, go for the newest gpus you can - these also over time will bring extra performance via amd drivers - a 7970/280x must be near maxed out by now.
know what you mean, I kinda want to find a good clocking 3770k to replace my 3570K since it seems bf4 is actually making use of the hyper threading which will be handy for me now that I have a new monitor lol
QNIX 2710. its a 27" Korean monitor 2560x1440p and overclocked to 110hz atm. ended up costing only $550NZD. So stoked anyway sorry for the off topic guys. OP, consider the 290 if possible, you'll thank us later but please do also consider waiting for custom coolers
