You just got GK104. Wanna rumors? nV has in-house GForce4 Ti 4800 built on Graphene transistors ticking 150GHz on core. (500x of original clock as proof of concept) So rumor is, that in 3 years every single PC we have now will look like 2x86 without ALU compared to this day. Other rumor is that we will get back to simpler 1 core architecture because super clocked transistors would be far from enough on start, so why to waste on dual/quad cores? And best rumor is: there is hidden nV roadmap floating somewhere on internets.
New cards are not needed right now, we got everything we need for IQ in gaming @ 1080P. We've hit a plateau, and the view is awesome from here. Take a sec to think about what we got right now in IQ for gaming: Skeletal animation systems Simulated radiosity lighting Procedurally generated environments Infinite diffuse depth near-as-dammit infinity polygon systems thanks to tessellation Reflection systems Particle systems Real-time physics Only thing to move forward would entail an increase in resolution, but, my friends, I personally believe this has hit a plateau also, with 1080P. All content for television has kinda hit this limit and although there is a lot of 'talk' about 4K, this broadcast system is in a circular argument and will remain that way for a long time. TV Manufacturers will not make a mainstream version of a 4K TV for massmarket until there is a broadcast standard for 4K. Broadcast 4K will not move forward until there is sufficient demand for it. 4K broadcast costs/takes a lot of bandwidth transmission. Either we get awesome up-scaling algorithms for everything, or we stay at 1080P until the circle is broken. I think bandwidth might be the lynchpin to tip the scales. Until then, get used to 1080P textures in gaming, as things will look as they do now for some time to come, especially since the new games consoles are 1080P. Lest we not forget the global economy going to poo.
LOL, same thing I was thinking. what he means is that if you have a good GPU you don't need to upgrade yet until next year.
