If this is a mid-range card (660) with Nvidia declaring it as the top one (680) just to increase their margins, then the 690 or whatever it is to follow could truly be awesome. The 'Kepler is unbeatable' comment then may have a ring of truth in it.
Unbeatable ey http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/review/2162193/nvidias-gtx680-thrashed-amds-mid-range-radeon-hd-7870-gpu-compute
Yeah, is he not just guessing based on a 706mhz GK104 chip, it's hard to tell as it reads like a Google Translation. Saying that, the 680 was taking a tanking from the 7970 in those OpenCL tests, and was even much slower than a 580, might even run Luxmark 2.0 now to see if i can beat it. The GPU OpenCL physics in 3D Mark 11 don't look to of suffered though.
Heh. I'm sad my once mighty 580 is bringing up the rear on those TH benchmarks. Things are not gonna be fun for 7970 owners in a few days I reckon... Still at least you're not in last place. :flip2:
Yeah it was me bitching this morning that made them lower it. I mean all they have is the best gaming card so it should be cheaper 500usd is ok with me.
Imagine if Nvidia called the GK-104 what it most probably is, a 660, the mid-range of the Kepler line. AMD owners should be relieved they were spared such an insult, lol.
Some people here know the difference between knowledge and wisdom. Even if my 7970 takes a royal kicking I shan't be pissed off or upset about it. My 7970 runs my Dell U2711 beautifully, just the job I bought it for. All my games are running as smooth as butter another few fps or even another 10 or 20 are not going make me cry about it. If I was buying now I would wait to see what happens but I didn't I bought at Crimbo when I got my new screen. I for one, simply enjoy watching the bun fight!
Indeed. My 580 is still surplus to my requirements and runs all my games extremely well but it was fun having the fastest card for a short while.
Different patches and drivers can result in different performances with the same games. And no benchmarks ever return exactly the same results either.
The Inquirer makes my laugh. All of their GPU predictions are so out there I don't see why anyone would use that as a reputable site. Other than to make other sites look more reputable that is.
There are a lot of official drivers for 7900? I know 8.92 and 8.95:nerd: Or was released new patch from Codemasters? :wanker:
