You can Overwrite the Missmatch checking,
    whit 4.41 its the command:
    nvflash -u -p -f

    whit 5.25 it's:
    nvflash -4 -5 -6

You should be ok whit it. I guess.
I read soo many time to NEVER erase the eeprom, don't know why but you did it.

Try that or wait for Jimmor.
    Sorry

Yeah sould be fine you just wiped it. Copy another BIOS back. Check your using the right variables. You could get a BIOS for the same card. I'll see If I can find you one later. Going to bed now.

Im kind of half-newb whit bioses because it's really complicated.

From what I understand, the Eeprom is the bios. (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory).
The mobo Cache it in the mem to speed things.

There is this command in the TXT file of nvflash 5.25

override o <level> Override safety check level:
default unknown EEPROM | NV adapter aborts application.
level=1 unknown EEPROM acceptable for read operations.
level=2 unknown NV adapter acceptable for read operations.
level=3 Combined effect of 1,2 (cannot write to unknown EEPROM or adapter).

If you flash a new Bios, it should re-write himself.

Yeah thats why it's always good to back up the original then you can always flash it again incase of problems. You may need to reset CMOS on your motherboard. I've tried killing an EEPROM (in a fit of rage at an Intel based PC that was giving me the willies, never buy an Intel motherboard they suck, stable but suck) by turning the power of half way through a flash and could still reflash it again. Never tried to erase an EEPROM though becasue you just need to flash them. Maybe you wiped something needed to identify the chip. You should always read up on all the variables used with commands so you know exactly what you are doing. There should be a way to fix it though. With a motherboard you can always get another EEPROM of an identical MB but with a vid card it maybe a bit more difficult. Your right FNK EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) is the flash chip and BIOS (basic input/output system) is the software you bung on it or flash it with to be more precise LOL.
Hey Doctor Sues invented the word "Nerd" when he wrote "I Wish I Ran the Zoo", I think that's what the book was called anyway, I lost it somewhere.

I really did "lose it" somewhere in life :nerd: though I am "finding it" again :)

    MSI Geforce 5900XT
Been meaning to do this for a while, but never got around to grab all the things needed until just recently. Here's my results:

Card: MSI Geforce 5900XT, stock cooling.

Clock rates (max stable): 450 mHz core/ 760 mHz vram.

    3d mark 2003 score: ~5100

I tried a few different bioses, but eventually settled on the underclocked nVidia version of the 5950 Ultra bios, since video doesn't matter to me, and I trust nVidia to know their chips best. Besides it was the most recent.

Flashing wasn't too much hassle, since I used the MSI program to flash bioses from within windows, and just replaced their bioses with the one I wanted.

After reboot, it windows found my card just fine and I was able to install the drivers without a single anomality or warning. Another reboot, then to the overclocking. I've not tested this thoroughly yet, but here's what I got so far:

Clock rates (max stable): 470 mHz core/ 930 mHz vram.

This might seem as much at first glance, but as we all know by now, FX5950 ultra bioses have more relaxed latencies, so cannot be compared directly. I'm a bit puzzled as to why I could get a higher core clock, but I figure it's due to the volt change? Anyway, results, though limited, should give you an idea:

    3d mark 2003 score: ~5500

A rise by about 400, or nearly 10%, isn't too shabby considering how easily it's done. Just don't be fooled into thinking that this'll make your card capable of competing with recent cards all the sudden. But considering the ease, I see no real reason to not do it, especially if you're already overclocking your card. With custom cooling, you might get even more out of it - I only used the stock MSI cooling without heatsinks on the vram.

Thanks to all who've been helpfull in this thread :)

    Try using NVFLASH v4.41
    here are the commands
    nvflash -r (removes any protection)

nvflash -b ORIGBIOS.ROM (saves original bios)

    nvflash -u -p -f BIOSNAME.ROM (flash new bios file)

And recommend nvflash v4.42 for 6800 card flashing,

    nvflash -r (removes any protection)

nvflash -b ORIGBIOS.ROM (saves original bios)

    nvflash -2 -u -p -f BIOSNAME.ROM (flash new bios file)

Bios name must have 8 charcters for first part of the file name as above.

So flashing a new bios don't work? We did'nt heard any news.
If not, try the Chaintech 5900XT modded bios. Was the fastest on my card.

Well we should only COPY paste this entire 144 pages thread!

use nbitor to mod the bios.
use nvflash to flash the card. (Never erase the Eeprom)
    End !

I used Chaintech bios. Before my max OC was 426/730mhz, now 450/950.
    Could reach 470/984mhz.

    So read the some post!

    Your quote of,

    "Writing flash with file bios.rom
    EEPROM programming failed
ERROR: MISMATCH in 256 byte page-mode programming"

appears to indicate that the nvflash program had a problem writing to the eeprom ----> which usually means that you didn't unprotect the eeprom before flashing the bios ?

So, flash the bios in DOS using nvflash.exe v5.13, or newer,

    nvflash -r (removes any protection)

    nvflash -i0 -4 -5 -6 BIOSNAME.ROM (flash new bios file)

However because of DOS filename restrictions, "ORIGBIOS.ROM" and "BIOSNAME.ROM" must have no more than 8 char's in first part of filename and no more than 3 char's in extender part, otherwise DOS will not recognise the command.

And note; the -i0 command switch just ensures that only the AGP card gets flashed, and the -4 -5 -6 command switches will force a flash regardless of any ID mismatches. So always just enter a "Y" and continue.

And unless you really know what you are doing, ONLY flash a AGP type card with a supporting AGP bios, and a PCI-E type card with a supporting PCI-E bios !!!!!
