I have/had so many hobbies to keep me busy. Over time I stopped some of them for various reasons. Firearms - ammo was too expensive Books/comics - took up a lot of room Car models - a kid came into my room when I was gone, thought they were toys, and broke them all. Traumatized forever. Digital art/design - mundane jobs sucked the creative mindset out of me.
Memes I spent probably an hour or so looking at crap like that everyday. The site I used became increasingly anti-american, overall negative, and the quality of posts became worse and worse. I've been putting the time I recovered from that hobby into arduino projects. Electronics are what what I really love anyways, so it's a win win for me.
Photography - While I've never really "quit" it, I just don't have the time at the moment because of work. I used to go out and about with my camera once or twice per week but now I've only been out once taking photos in the past 14 months so in a way you could say that I've quit doing it against my will. Movie collecting - Been collecting films since the days of VHS. I've been rebuilding my collection of dvd's slowly since I moved to the UK but I dont really buy any DVD's / Blu-Ray's anymore because most of the Hollywood films I've seen in the past 2 years or so have lacked the magic that made me a film buff in the first place. The magic that once was present in hollywood films has been replaced by a conveyor belt of sh!t that spews out endless superhero films, crappy horror reboots and PG-13 action films with digital blood. Most of the overhyped crap of today make trainwrecks like Waterworld and Pearl Harbor of the past look awesome. Once a film actually comes along that I might want to see, I just wait for it to become available on Netflix.
Paintball 2 Reasons no one was doing it anymore in my area and I moved to running my Groups Firing Range so no reason to hold onto paintball..
1/8 RC car track racing - too much fixing, buiding and servicing compared to track time. And difficult to get parts after all. But got one national championship yet.
books. lots and lots of books. used to read alot. but then I moved and ever sense I moved, I stopped reading.
Fishing. I ended up sleeping with my fishing partner's partner and it just got too uncomfortable for me to be on the bank with him when he was starting sentences with "I think she's cheating on me". The term "There's plenty more fish" was just too hard to say.
fishing. but it was a solitary hobby for me,no fishing partener... fishing was more a total isolation from every day routine. now,i think i have to re-claim my fishing hobby. and model boats....
Football - Lost interest. Computers - When I joined here they were an awesome hobby, but since I started working with them everyday that's enough for me.
^^^ lol, you've been a bad boy, probably she took a "bigger bait" I also had stopped fishing years ago but not because of same reason like you, mainly because of lack of free time and lack of fish here in Danube river. When I was a kid you could catch fish almost with naked hook and cheap equipement, now you need sonar and other HiTech gear just to see/catch average predator fish and you need 10x more time to catch same amount of fish now compared to fishing 25 years ago. I had tried to explain to my father why I had stopped fishing ("...no more fish there dad like in good old times...") but he still don't believe me, he think that I've lost my fishing skills, but he also didn't tried to fish 15, 20 years I guess mostly because of lack of free time, if he did he would believed me... I had a small fishing boat but I've sold it years ago just because of lack of fish in Danube here where I have a small fishing cabin 15 meters from shore. Cabin is still there but I use it now just for weekend days for relaxing with my wife and kids. No more fishing for me... Aquariums... Lack of time to maintain all about them. They look great and my kids love them but they don't want to do almost anything about maintaining them when I'm absent because of my job so I quit few years ago and took empty aquariums in basement of my house.
I think computer ruined alot of hobbys for people. if computers wasnt around. we would be doing alot more things. including being outside. @CrazY_Milojko when I was around 8, my parents started breeding guppies, at the time we had two living rooms in our house and one of them had around 10 15 gallon tanks and 1 100 gallon tank. and then we had other tanks in other parts of the house. then later added a koi pond in the other living room with a built in waterfall.( INSIDE OF THE HOUSE!!!) if anybody is wounder about the size of the house. 4 bedrooms( 1 with balcony) .3 bathrooms, 2 living rooms.1 kitchen that wasnt used. basement/laundry room with kitchen that was used. and heated car garage that could fit 2 full size vans anyway. I still would like to have fish, but dont have time to clean tanks.
playing computer games. because i played enough and all became boring to me now. no such good game anyway. pathetic.
Airsoft - expense. I couldn't give up computers, music (guitar and bass) and my other great hobby, wargaming, even though I rotate what I'm playing quite a lot.
PC gaming. Just look at my spec. Now I only game on android and play Counter Strike Online on my laptop. No chance for an upgrade, wife wont approve. Fishing. Got a baby 2 years ago. Me and wife love to fish. We used to go fishing together. So when the baby came, no more time for fishing. Watching movies on cinema. Same reason above. But last month we went to watch How to Train Your Dragon 2. I think my son is already old enough to go to cinema. DIY electronic kit. I used to love building many kinds of DIY audio kit like FM radio, cassette player, amplifier, equalizer, etc. Reason: already have good quality audio gears. Miss the smell of solder... Reading. I have never been a hardcore reader but I used to bought and read 1-2 books in a month. Now, none, no time for it. Swimming. I just don't feel like to swim anymore
As others have said, being into computers has become my main hobby. If I'm not gaming, I'm watch a film or series or aimlessly wandering the net. A few hobbies that have gone by the wayside: Collecting WH40K - gave this up a few years ago tbh. Too expensive, I was crap at painting and the Dawn of War series rendered it moot anyway. Scuba diving - I used to do this with the family as we travelled a lot when I was young. Now I can't find the time and I don't want to spend my weekends driving around to get wet in Britain's miserable waters for a couple of hours. If I want to simulate the experience I can just fill my bath up with cold water, put a shopping trolley and a few used condoms in there et voila. Squash - I still go to the gym but can't be arsed to play squash anymore. I was okay but certainly not a really good player. Socialising - was never much of a socialiser but ever since leaving uni a few years ago I'm now a bit of a recluse, which is actually how I like it. Still get on well with peple at work though! Reading - used to be a real bookworm but not so much recently. Probably because a) I've read most of the classics and b) I'm knackered after a day's works and fall asleep pretty much as soon as my head hits the pillow. Plus during the day I usually read at least one engineering paper anyway. I want to take up travelling though, now that I can afford to go in relative style. I'm going to Japan at the end of September. Let's see how it works out
Football - Lost intrest, starting again by kicking the ball with friends, really on and off hobby. There might be few years without even touching the ball. Computers / gaming - on hold, lost interest and no work atm, will get back when I get a job, not sure when that happens. Self defence (Krav Maga & Defendo) - Last job was far away and was tired at the end of the day, later moved to other city
