This is a side-effect of the new mantle crossfire frame-pacing patch. There are three modes 0,1 and 2. You can switch between them with a command. 2 is the default mode and implements very aggressive frame-pacing which sacrifices framerate for totally consistent frame times(the FCAT graph is a straight line). The difference in framerate between d3d11 and mantle narrows very much as resolution increases. See http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphi...eld-4-Mantle-CrossFire-Early-Performance-FCAT Also, Dice are still experimenting with which mode is best and now believe mode 1 retains the performance increase of mantle while providing good frame times and will probably make this default in future. See repi's twitter feed: https://twitter.com/repi By the way, Thief hasn't received a mantle crossfire patch yet (with mantle this is now the game developer's responsibility).
I am so glad we got rivalry on gpu market when cpu is rather stale. Been really happy with my 290x gaming more so then I thought actually.
Pitting a dual GPU vs the competitions single? I'd be embarrassed if I was their PR manager. Other than that, killer card. Could spur more interest in 4k displays.
AMD always does the dual GPU's right. Even if they are slower in single GPUS, they always nail these. Yeah..the 4870 X2 had driver problems back in the day, but it WAS sorted out...same with the 7990. Looks like they are getting better and better with the driver thing. I had a 3870 X2, and 4870 X2 back in the day, and liked em a lot. This I agree with, they should have waited to compare with TITAN Z.
I thought this was supposed to be $1,500, last i looked Titan Black was only $1000, and i use the word only very loosely. I agree with alanm on this, it looks silly and only sets Nvidia up to do the same since it looks like AMD are saying price doesn't matter. Fantastic card though, one of the few times i have considered a dual gpu card to be better than 2 single cards, still alot more expensive than two cards though, but with the cooler and how impressive an achievement this is card is, it does help lessen the blow.
Does everyone here have amnesia? I remember when the Ares II came out at $1500, people were up in arms about the price. Now, after titan, AMD bitcoin price hike, titan z, and other BS people are like "$1,500? Sounds legit...shrug." Nice card but man, AMD and Nvidia must be laughing all the way to the bank.
Yeah but... it's like half the price of Titan Z, even if it's let's say 10-15% slower. I'm really surprised that nvidia keep setting the price bar higher and higher, but hey, they sell even like this so more the fools we.
Well nvidia doesnt have a dual gpu yet, so I guess they picked the strongest thing that it has to offer. Look at 690GTX back then, nvidia used 7970 in the chart and compared it to that.. Same **** now xD
