With the news that Hostess Brands going out of business in the US, many on the Internet were mourning the demise of their childhood snack. However, fear not! Twinkies aren't dead with the closing of Hostess Brands! Saputo, the largest Canadian dairy company still holds the rights to produce and sell these snacks in Canada.

So if any American really need their Twinkies fix, guess it's time to hit the borders to get some in Canada lol.

I see a huge benefit to them if they end up buying the Twinkies brand.

I don't often buy snack cakes, but when I do, I buy Zingers.

But yeah anyways, I won't miss them if they are gone. I haven't eaten a Twinkie in more than five years?

Other than the stray potato chip, I don't think I've bought any junk food in 5 years. ;)

I have never ever got the chance to eat a twinkie altough I drooled many times at pictures of them. I eat a lot of pie tipes though, most of them home made. :D

Good riddance to twinkies....it's sad that Hostess is going away though. Just more proof that work unions are bad for businesses....

Well they were trying to get a deal with 2 different unions. One ok'd the deal and the other said no deal so those two are now pissed at each other. Goodbye to 18K jobs just in time for Christmas. I don't think I've had a twinkie in years but they are pretty damn good.lol

I envision Twinkie-smuggling related shootouts at the US/Canada border, with blood and creamy filling spilled in equal measure. Oh my.

At least there'll be plenty of sponge cake to absorb the mess.

Yes, it wasn't the executives who tripled their salaries on the even of bankruptcy. Of course the unions called them on their "we can't afford it" line.
Unfortunately for them, the executives were looting the company without regard for how they were doing.

This, for what it is worth, is going to be a pretty big deal in the bankruptcy. Be curious to see if they don't have to pay these gains back.

The unions should have made it clear that they were unhappy with the deal but sent employees back to work on the condition of negotiating a more agreeable deal. That would have at least allowed 18000+ people to retain their jobs, at least short term.

I know a few people locally that lost their jobs a few years ago because UAW refused to act responsibly.... I don't see this as being much different....aside from the behavior of the executives who should have been willing to cut their own pay to ensure survival of the company.
