    7970 + Win8 dont waste your time

I should have clarified, I meant with the 7970 and Win8. Its assumed all the older cards work fine with most drivers in Win8, however the 7970 only works with 11.12.1. Other drivers will install but you loose CCC, meaning Eyefinity is off the cards.

Sadly these drivers are the same, I tried:
    - Complete 8.97 package, driver + CCC
    - 8.97 driver (oddly its WDDM 1.1 not 1.2?) and 11.12.1 CCC

CCC will not open and again it looks like the 7970 will require an official update to get past 11.12.1 in Win8. :(

It was 100% ATIMAN issue, bcause it causes bsod on boot and non-recoverable install for AMD setups.

Same sh*t, different day. 1st card - stuck in idle mode in games, 2nd card - stuck on max mode on the desktop. That's the last time i try new drivers before going green. Rolling back to the last stable drivers 11.11c until then. The level of incompetence of AMD with all the 12.x drivers is abysmal. No, it's not my fault the drivers don't work for me and no, it's not MSI Afterburner fault. It's a clean Win 7 x64 install so these are the first drivers on the hdd and there is no MSI Afterburner installed. AMD just sucks and are unable to provide a decent driver.

Fresh windows 8 install, CCC works fine for me with xfire 7970. Try ATIman / driver sweeper on your windows 8 install. Looks like you have something left over.

These turned out to be the worst driver ever for my dual HD 6990 setup. 1/3 of FPS and stutters. :biggun:

    The best are still 8.94.

Cangelogs or release notes for these drivers would be very helpful.

Finally a driver that doesn't Bsod or locks up for me.
First after the Cape Verde driver that works good, better and more stable fps in WoW and WoT.

Ya sorry I was a bit snippy, I have no problems with Tri fire with eyefinity off and it is very fast. Tri with eyefinity is a different story though, they simple will not run on my PC. It will either BSOD or hard lock with sound loop buzzing. If AMD next set of drivers dont fix I'm gonna try to return these junkers. Though I doubt they'll let me.

umm...you do realize you need to tell it not to uninstall your system drivers right?

it removes everything AMD by default, since thats its purpose...

and it absolutely doesn't touch the boot sector.

It probably removed the AMD sata drivers and couldn't boot windows.

Hi guys,i have idle clocks problem again. I havent this problem only on 8.951.5 05 march drivers. Normal idle clocks are 100/150 and now i have 499/799 all time. Have you some idea how to get normal idle clocks? Thanks :)

WTF! These drivers gave me a 5% FPS increase in BF3. :3eyes:

Great drivers, no problems at all. These will be replacing the 12.3WHQL which I had previously installed. Thanks OP.

P.S Is there a change log for these?

Testing now Crysis 2 is ok, Metro 2033 same fps as 12.3 WHQL, no problems opening control panel and idle clocks are ok (100,150).

I have had drivers that run games like crap after drivesweeper and cclean and then behave beautifully installed after atiman.

That is not to say that you will never have to reinstall the windows operating system ever again. It is what it is.

    Regards
