They havent cancelled the 470, they released a statement about it.

i do like the 465 but the price is just to high, you cvan get a 470 for £30 more over here, the 465 needs to be around the £200 mark.

What's with all the British slang used nowhere else in the world? I had to look up what the hell pukka means.

If the 465s can be commonly unlocked (like the 6800 series cards were) to 470s and the only difference is the RAM (amount, clock speed & bus width) then I'd actually consider buying one if the price ever decreases to a reasonable amount.

What happens when they run out of these hand picked cards? I'd rather just buy a real GTX470.

Looks like that memory amount/bus matters. At least it can't be completely unlocked. I'd be really pissed then.

Actually bios flashing to a 470 has yielded the same ram amount/bus. Need to take the cooler off and see how many chips there are. 8=Shaders Only 10=Full 470

That is good news. Perhaps upgrade GTX260 C216 to that in Phenom2 pc. :)

The number of cards with 10 memory chips is going to be extremely close to 0.

Why? It doesn't make sense for Nvidia and its partners to sell boards with useless junk on them. That's two extra memory chips on each card that goes out that do nothing. So, for every 4 cards you sell, you've wasted an entire card's worth of memory.

That would add up, no company wants to do that.

Would make sense, kinda reminds me of the 6800GT vs 6800Ultra. Why buy a Ultra when OC'ing a card that's €100 cheaper can get you the same results? In fact they ended up releasing an insanely popular card because of this, tons of people had a 6800GT.

If it´s possible to unlock completely a 465 to an 470, something i find hard to believe, then this card is going to fly out the shelves!!! Although in Portugal the 470 only costs more 30€ than the 465 so i don´t think it´s worth it, at least for now.

I hope Guru 3d investigates this matter...

From looking around, it appears that all the Point of View cards are re-branded 470's - with full compliment of Ram modules.

Other brands are certainly 8 chips only so far - good marketing from POV if true - their cards are gonna go out of stock fairly quick.

    Oh, thanks.

There is 40€ difference between POV GTX465 and GTX470. For single card it's not that much. So if you are looking to go for single one, not sure which one to recommend. I'm definitely not buying only one GTX470 if I take those over GTX480('s?).

For two POV GTX465 price is 598€ and two POV GTX470's are 678€. That would matter a bit.

I agree, for the sake of €40, you may as well get a 470, be guaranteed of the full compliment of memory, and not have to bother with messing with the card.

If the 465 dropped to around €220-250 though...
