To see that BlackIce fireall made it before even McAffee is rough, BlackIce is probably the most insecure one you can ever get.

I'd probably take that site as a grain of salt.

We are also going for Freeware or Opensource Apps, alot of those you had to pay for, which kinda doesn't fit into the thread ;)

id like to suggest picture shark

    Picture Shark homepage

Version1 is freeware and if you register you get the latest version 2.99 update.

Version 1 is basic but allows you to add transparent watermarking and file batch conversion between .BMP .JPG .PNG (variable percentage levels).

Also Id like to suggest Squirlz water reflections and his other free downloads.

It can take an image and allow you to add water effects and animate the transparennt section created into avis or shockwave flash movies

    Sqirlz

I found this little System Process and Port scanner, and it seems to do a Decent job. it is called WinSonar and it's freeware. I only had it for an hour, but seems like it could help those who want to know what certain processes are using as a Root. It also has an active process / change notifier, kinda like WinPatrol.

There isn't many Freeware DVD players because the whole decryption thing is pretty secure, the only one I know of is VLC, while it does the best job it can, it's not great.

Usually when you buy a DVD ROM or something you get PowerDVD or WinDVD with it, just install that so the codec is on your system, then you can watch it in Media Player etc.

Although I think Media Player can do it anyway? Just test it.

Wondering if there is a program for tweaking or editing mouse settings besides the control panel.

Hmm, can't say I've seen anything like that.

Usually if you get a more brand specific mouse, such as Logitech etc, then you will get Setpoint with it, which has quite a few options in it.
