Second GTX470 is now in place and folding (Have issues in game when using SLI (not related to folding) but I have just disabled that for now), new motherboard looks to be better for OCing than old one. At 3.9ghz now, will try for more some time.. Showing 38,000 - 39,000 ppd now..

Hey iancook, how about this setup:
SMP2 BETA Client with -smp 10
    2 X GPU3 BETA Client
    1 Classic Client
That way, your SMP2 WUs will not EUE due to -smp 11 and you will have a 2 free threads, one can be for 2 GPUs while the other can sun a single instance of Classic Client.

yer look like im going to have to that way just annoys me that bigadv work on smp 11 and smp don't, im looking to overclock the 970 now to see if it gives the cpu3 clinent anuff room ( on think i have been fighting with on the gpu3 clinent is it useing more than on thread and slowing the smp down even thogh ive toll it to use one thread witch is confusing)

I run -bigadv -smp7 p2684 with 53:30~53:40 tpf (~16000 ppd) @ 3.6ghz / 6-7-6-18@1600 marginally better than I obtained with A3 normal WU's (13-14k ppd). From what I see I guess p2684 is slower than rest of bigadv projects. My 480 keeps folding 15-16k ppd on the same rig.

I will wait to see how it goes with WU's from the other bigadv projects as well.

I've had enougth of the graphical problems with Sli enabled so have decided to go with a one card setup.
New GTX580 arrives today, lower PPD I know but better for my gaming...

ariskar yer that what i think everone see on the 2684 i think it was the first work unit on windows bigadv so the other are better coded

It actualy uses less wattage and runs cooler than my old setup...(58c while folding)...

49:50 TPF @ 3.8 now. Running ~ 70C core (61C cpu) temps on air, I guess it's near my OC stability limit. At least that assures I don't miss the deadline. Also ppd grew to ~17500, quite good for "just" a 920 I suppose.

My average to cheap-ish 2000VA (1200W) rated UPS can't hold my rig while folding or intense gaming :bang:

So power efficiency is also important, and I guess 1x580 is better than those two 470's from this perspective...

    I fold @ 68c on my 480 with slight oc (750/2000).

There were rummors that 580 sacrafice some GPGPU parallel processing power for gaming performance. What PPD do you get on that 580 of yours?

Anyway wish you enjoy your new toy! :)

You should be able to review the system event log to at least get the error code (aka STOP 123) etc. Might give you a little bit of information to run on.

My fiance blew the fuse using a hair drier so my systems were down for quite a while 2 days ago :bang:

yer i can find all of that im trying to what cause it i think this time is was drivers but im not sure yet i no the dump file will say it. i no it should not be hardware because the begadv is still going without EUEing

You can usually look up the error code and get an idea of what caused it. Hardware failure, Driver Failure, etc.

I've OC'ed my system too far and blue screened while folding, I was able to continue folding that WU like nothing really happened. Not sure that is a clear cut way to say it wasn't the hardware

    Welcome back

As for the blue screens, I only got from CPU OC instability, or low ram Vdimm. Whenever that happened I could continue folding on the same WU.

You may be able to read the minidump file that gets created in c:\windows\minidump and obtain more info:nerd:
