It popped up around a year ago and then disappeared in to the ether un seen, but it would seem the PM is using the national mask created by the birth of the royal baby to push through internet censorship.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23401076

I guess we are back at the same position we had a year ago.

An out of touch Government forcing the ISP to do the job they know they can't really do while the ISPs sit there telling the Government that they can't and shouldn't be doing this kind of censorship.

So by blocking all porn sites, this is going to stop kids looking at porn? Sure you can op out, but who is going to want to do so?

Apparently the block is happening on a per-PC basis, only new PCs being affected, older ones being told how to turn it on by ISPs, no blocking at their end as I understand it. They're not going anywhere near mine.

Maybe I mis-read the report but I thought it was a blanket block, didn't matter weather you were new or already on the ISP?

It will never come to Law and this is why.

But he hinted that if search engines like Google didn't agree to a blacklist of search terms, he would legislate.

That was taken from part of the report from the BBC.

    Legislate what?? Dave.

Google is a US based company, good luck in trying to tell one of the worlds largest tech companies how they will do business. The US has the 1st ammendment of their constitution and they really love other people telling them they cant use it. That goes down really well.

Im over 18. i can vote and i can die for my country, and noone is going to tell me, what i can or cant watch on my computer at 3am when i want to crack one off.

A readers post from that thead.

"What are you lot going on about? If you want to access porn, you still can, by telling your ISP that you don't want it blocked. It is a matter of personal choice. Better this way than allowing all sorts of corrupting influences to be beamed at you, often by subversive means. Well done Cameron. There has to be control - every publication in paper form has some controls".

As long as you have a choice i dont see a problem, i actually see it as a good thing. It does become a massive problem if they take that choice away.

So long as it is blocking child porn and simulated rape - I don't see this (personally) as being something UK ISP's would have an issue with.

The future is what I fear, and what this legislation could lead to in the name of 'protecting' citizens.

I never asked for it to be blocked in the first place. It wont be even very hard to bypass anything the ISP's try to do anyway.

We all know where this is heading. Complete control over the internet.

Making something "opt in" rather than vice versa is quite shady, especially in a case like this. Why should you have to call your ISP and tell them you want porn unblocked?

So is access to these websites only to be granted to MP's by David Camoron?

That's why they have done it that way, to make people not opt out.

This is stupid, we already have the IWF blocking illegal porn sites, so why do we need a filter for legal porn sites

This is why the Tories and Labour are a joke along with most of the idiots that vote for these parasites, first it'll be blocking porn the next it'll be blocking anything that is anti-government

Women watch just as much porn, amusingly. It's also seemingly acceptable for them to read it in public. :wanker:
