In the wake of the new year, NVIDIA's GeForce Forceware drivers have surfaced. While being in a beta stage the 185.20 Forceware provide support for NVIDIA's upcoming products namely the GeForce GTX 295 and GeForce GTX 285. All other GPUs GeForce 6 Series onward are supported as usual. The driver is dated for 26-12-2008. The package includes PhysX system software version 8.11.18. Drivers for both 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows XP ,also tested and worked with windows 7 ultimate 32-bit (use the vista 32-bit one)and they can be downloaded from the links below:

    ForceWare 185.20 XP (64-bit )

    ForceWare 185.20 Vista (32-bit )

^ These drivers are confirmed working for Windows 7 Ultimate build 7000 as well.

    ForceWare 185.20 Vista (64-bit )

Interesting, these new drivers contain a new Ambient Occlusion setting in the Nvidia Control Panel:

Don't forget to read the description of Ambient Occlusion at the bottom ^.

The effect of Ambient Occlusion is particularly emphasized in titles such as Crysis:

    Thank you. Will try them.

I enjoy translating these pages from Chinese. On this page, "Sex: Constellation".

A previous web page was about the ati/nvidia rivalry, "Who will ascend to the throne of the king?".

Cool, a new driver. I'll have to test these in Vista and Windows 7. Thanks for the heads up, I'll be sure to post up some benches :)

Edit: Just so everyone knows, the drivers contain PhysX System Software 8.11.18

I couldn't install over top of 181.00 with these so I had to do a clean install. No problems with DV or anything like that. Everything for normal use is working perfectly. I'll post benchmarks later on when I get Vantage installed.

Well this is weird driver. It has actually three installers. Normal drivers installer, PhysX installer and NVIDIA Performance Drivers installer. Now what the heck is that last one?
    EDIT: Okay, it's for Quadros.

    You are right.

It looks like profiles are broken. Drop downs do not work.

    Yes, you are.

Are these drivers primary released for workstation cards?
    Yes.

Are these drivers only good for workstation cards?
No, in fact those drivers are 'perfect' for consumer cards!

    Why?
There is a much better quality management for drivers directed at the workstation market.
And don't forget... game developers are also situated in the market for workstation cards - just think about that.

My experience with such kind of drivers: they are mostly BETTER than those for the consumer cards.

So I try these drivers for my WinXP Setup now... thanks for the links!
