Can it do 120hz @ 1080p though? I am never going back to 60hz gaming

Are you sure you meant 32 audio channels? Or just 32 bit audio? I'm not even aware of movie theaters that have 32 channels and I'm not aware of any home hardware that supports more than 8.

Anyways, it's about damn time something like this came out. While I'm happy with 1080p @ 60hz, I thought it was petty dumb how some 4K monitors require 2 connections.

Obviously, if it can do 3840x2160 @60hz (8.3m pixels), it will be able to do 1920x1080 @120 (=4.2m pixels @60hz)

Its been in developing for a while now and finally it does. I hope it arrives soon.

I wonder how current GPU cards what kind of "support" they will provide for the new standard.

No. It's still limited to 60Hz.

    4K only @ 60Hz - is a shame...
8K will come very soon - and then the next Problem is here...

The Future is 120 Hz+ - this is a backstep and however a shame...

Yes, the spec does in fact say "32 audio channels"

Only 18GBPS ???? dual link dvi-d can just barely do 12GBPS right now ...

It seems not a very big step up.

    I choose both.

Check 120hz.net .... some 4k TV that can already be pushed past their spec. Some do 140hz @ 1080p. Unfortunately no display cable has the bandwidth to do 4k at over 60hz right now.
