Impossible to say .. lol. It does look very different and I'm interested too. It could go on sale for 25% off at the most, new game after all. As for bugs you'd be better off holding your purchase for a day or two, can't trust any studio these days.
Yeah, I'm thinking maybe 25% off at Christmas. My birthday is the 24th so I'll just get it as a present for myself then and try not to think about it before, unless it goes on sale before that. My willpower sucks though and if Steam has some flashy advertisements for it before it goes on sale I'll probably crumble like a cookie, lol.
Yup, pre-ordered and counting the hours until it's released. A little disappointed that you are limited to one ship but we'll see how that goes.
I'm very interested in this and it looks visually stunning. Can;t wait to give it a spin. As for this though.. indeed it's sad that this is actually a common occurrence and one that is true. The number of games bought now where you can't play due to server login failures or simple game breaking bugs, crash to desktops, lost save files, incorrect versions going to release. The trend to "sell now fix it when we have your money" culture is pushing me away from release day sales unless its a studio I really trust...and even those are few and far between.
btw original thread can be found here http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=347206 Anyway, I can't wait to see this new engine in action
Is it still just one flyable ship in rebirth or have they added more? Kind of a hard pill for me to swallow considering the amount of ships you can own and fly in the other X games.
it is one ship. But you control the other ships like drones. Just like you do most of the time in the other X games anyway.
The whole one-ship thing is a huge turn off for me. I quite like being able to freely take the helm of a ship of my choice, by it a fighter, freighter or mighty capital ship.
Um, of course you can fly any ship.. But you have to own it and that costs a lot, big ones M5, M6, M7 were few millions ^^ I remember flying a huge mothership that barely made it through those warp gates  edit: i think it was this Orca and this wasnt the biggest yet http://www.x3wiki.com/index.php/Orca
I am looking forward to this. I love space game, makes a change from all the generic games on the PC these days.
Hm where did you see this info? Well Im pretty sure you can still teleport in bigger ships just like by older x-games.
Ah I see, thanks. To be honest it kinda sucks, ok I see their point with big slow ships etc.. I just hope it wont get to monotone this way.
The ship you control reminds me of the Normandy in Mass Effect (but better). Not a bad thing to be honest. X Rebirth - Scale and Detail http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEbL1p5vZpw X Rebirth - Trading and Mining http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thnJ...ew-vl&list=PLRNrultsQ-Ti7bEZvxJU58YrYiDy4n4JM
Last time i checked the game is called X Rebirth. They have been using the same formula since Beyond the Frontier, which is pretty much the same core game as Albion Prelude. I think 6 games is enough before they can start fresh, and they are drastically changing the X series. If you don't like it, play any of the other 6 games release prior to this one.
I wasn't going to mess with my old PC anymore, instead get a new one sometime next year. But seeing that game .. man I'm gonna put some more RAM and reinstall in x64 just for this one! Never played X games before. Huge fan of Freelancer and a golden member in Star Citizen though.
I'm actually looking forward to the change with the one ship. Having played X3 Reunion and Terran Conflict extensively, the only ship I really was attached to in both games was my first Nova Raider. It had a good balance of speed, maneuverability, firepower and shields and combat was pretty fun with it. After that I would always move on to M6's and then progressively larger capital ships, but none of them were nearly as fun to play with to me as a fighter. With the added immersion of an interactive cockpit, copilot and (hopefully) extensive customization, it's really a refreshing change in direction.
