OK, I haven't heard this particular model, but for $300, no way. going by my experience with Beats, for around $80, yeah, maybe, if they suit the style of music you like, but even then they wouldn't be a top 10 choice for me in that price bracket. AVOID BEATS BY ALL MEANS, YOU'RE PAYING FOR A BADGE.

These seem to be somewhat reasonable if you like bass heavy music (according to ONE person). I have not heard these.

Anyways, for what kind of use are you looking for headphones ? Willing to spend between $200-300 to these ? Perhaps someone can give you some recommendation.

Best thing would be if you could go to shop and listen some stuff before buying so you can check if headphones feel comfortable and sound good.

at $300 the op has quite a good selection of very good headphones. there's Beyers (DT770/DT880), AKG (K702/Q701), Audio Technica (AD700/900 range), Sennheisers (HD595/650).

the list goes on, but I suggest the OP goes to a shop where he can try these or if that's not an option, do your research thoroughly OP and spend some time reading reviews, have a look at head-fi etc. don't just spunk money on some Beats because you see celebrities wearing them.

Considering what you could get for $300:

    1) Beyerdynamic: DT770/880/990
    2) AKG: K701/K702/Q701

That's to name a couple ... absolutely no way.

You really have to want to feel your bass , If you like bass and you like the looks, I would say that is what they have going for them.

I would not pay $300 for them....like already mentioned here....you can do much better for that price IMHO.

If you want them and can get a deal...then by all means go for them.

Same with most of the guys here, I personally won't pay $300 for Beats' products. I've heard one $250 Beats ear plug and it sounds just like a $30 one from Phillips or Sony. I even own a fake Beats ear plug that sounds almost as good as the original, with 1/20 of the original price

Keep in mind open style headphones like the Beyerdynamic DT 990s can't have the same super strong bass that closed headphones can. So if having stupidly overpowered bass is your thing, don't buy an open pair.

Beats headphones are not even worth $100 as far as sound quality goes, you're paying for a brand. That is unless they've significantly improved their sound quality, which I seriously doubt.

That's exactly the range I would compare them to actually. For bass-heads they'd be okay at a $40-$50 price point. That's how much I got my Beats earbuds (shipped directly from Monster), but they're destroyed by anything half decent; my Sennheiser CX870s put them to shame. For their actual retail price of $150 or whatever it was they'd be a joke.
