Haswell processors will be released in June, there's pretty much nothing left that has not been leaked, including photo's, benchmarks, specifications, new technology .. and now the prices as well. T...

$327? I can live with that.

So that's around £254 then for the i7-4770K, including VAT. That's about what I was expecting it to be. It is likely to be my next CPU although I'm still not 100% convinced that I need anything more than an i7-920 for games, right now.

Yeah, it looks interesting. Moreover, $230 for 4670K looks even better in terms of bang for buck.

Well, I'm on 920 too (@3.9) and it appears I won't replace it anytime soon. If you're just into some general work and gaming, and buy some high-end CPU, it may last for many years. No wonder desktop sales are dropping.

    Only 250 euros... =]

    Gigabyte Motherboard +- 200
    4x4GB Mushkin Redline +- 135
    Noctua 2013 Cooler +- 65

Cheaper than i expected. Means i can spend some money on 5 new Noctua NF-S12A Case Fans.

You must be mad if you think a 4770K is going to be cheaper than a 3770K lol

I can buy an i7-3770K right now from Amazon UK for £254: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Gener...UTF8&colid=6ICUZ1CJ68YQ&coliid=I3597LFAQ1CV47 (it's been in my Wish List for about six months!!!) so I expect that to drop in price once Haswell comes out and for the i7-4770K to replace it in the same price range. I'm only speculating but I doubt it'll be more than £275 myself.

Same here: i still love my i7920 running @3,15 24/24. No needs to get higher cpu for this time. I'll upgrade in 2 years probably...

The 4770K is a tock, you'll want to upgrade when the 6770K is out or the 8770K. :wanker:

Personally I wouldn't be able to wait until 2017, you'll be itching for an upgrade by 2015... assuming the 6770K is on time, which it might not be, thanks AMD.

Hmmm I will wait for reviews and prices to come out before making the leap. It will be interesting to see how integrated voltage regulators affect overclocking.

Although my current rig is fairly balanced and can handle anything I play, the chipset is beginning to fall behind. Things like:
-Not having S-ATA 3 has held me back from upgrading to the new generations of SSDs.
-No USB 3.0 support cripples my USB3 pen drivers and external HDDs, this will only get worse in the future.
-Lack of PCIe 3 will probably also have an effect in the future. If Haswell lasts me as long as Nehalem did, GPUs 3 or 4 generations down the line are likely to take advantage of the extra bandwidth and CPU power.

Lastly, it's nice to be warm in the winter but the power draw of an "old" X58 system doesn't reflect well on the electricity bill.

    Decisions decisions...

They changed the numbers again? Come on Intel Marketing, you have one freaking job. Make a consistent and flexible numbering scheme. Can't even do that right.

Well that's nice. At least the numbers aren't as high as I was expecting. Pretty much the same as they are now. I still probably won't consider the 4770k since I don't do a whole lot except occasional gaming. I can't wait to see overclocking numbers on these things.

My 2600k is still rocking it, I don't need Haswell.

I think I'll be waiting to see what type of demands "next gen" games put on the CPU once the new consoles are out. I'd like to get Haswell, but I the only game I play that thrashes my CPU is GW2, (and that's only in WvW) --- everything else is GPU dependent.

All that's needed now,is a mobo to go with it. Anything available yet?

Intel have been smart not pumping out octo core CPUs to the regular market. They're well aware that so many things are still dual threaded including much of what is being currently released. There will be no 4770K/3770K/2700K octo core replacement any time in the foreseeable future.

I'll wait another gen.... Or go AMD APU....I don't need much processing power these days. My poor 2600K is largely being wasted as is.

From what i've seen so far, my current 2600K system will survive yet another round. Its my first Intel system and probably I will be using it the longest compared to my previous high end AMD systems... :)

ps: If they think they can feed us marginal performance increases, we will not purchase. Its damn simple as that. I hate it when technological progress is hindered by profit margins due to corporate interest...
