GOMplayer is more practical. No, it's as practical, but the fonctionnality are distributed in a easier way. Play list is F8, instead of Alt+7.

I still use MPC, but GOM is overall slitly better, and free.

I can't complain about PowerDVD 8 Ultra, but it does run ~$90 if you buy it.

PowerDVD supports GPU decoding, but it doesn't support .mkv files (which I assume is what format you'll be getting your 1080p movies in).

    Media Player Classic for me.

Be prepared to watch your processor chug though. My single core 1.8ghz A64 can't keep up with anything over 720p, but my 2.8 X2 runs about 80% on both cores.

Any way to get MPC, VLC or DivX to work with the Xbox 360 HDDVD Drive? It works fine with Power DVD but I would prefer to use the other players.

MPC. is the best when you choose the right codecs..
take core codec for hd and blueray..like mpg4, mkv, etc..
it not only uses the gpu for hardware aceleration, you can use shader to if you force output thru dx9 and ps2 shader, sharpen the picture and other usefull stuff you can do than^^

in my opinion, the media player classic is one of the best projects around...

i love this free resizing and cropping. just great...
it got more and, lets say usefull features than players that cost money..and its so easy to use..

the only really thing im missing in it, is the option for desktop mode..to make movie a wallpaper. but anyway, i can use vistas dreamscene for it^^
