Is this jailbreaking still needed to unluck full potential of the device ?

Don't quote me on it, but as far as I know - yes.

Only downside is you have to wait for jailbreakers to release updates, rather than automatic ones from apple.

I'm really town between the 3G and 3GS.... My brain says 3G but my heart says "come on, shell out an extra £80 for +8GB and extras". Thinking about it, its not THAT much of an extra. I just want o2 to confirm regarding 7.2mbps speeds and whether it will be available on their network.

I'd say no, it now has MMS, Video & editing, tethering & copy, cut, paste. Those were all of the major drawbacks with the 3G.

I'd hate to be in the US, AT&T arnt allowing tethering and arnt even offering MMS until later in the year :wanker:
I'm so happy O2 is allowing tethering, at no cost by the looks of things.

+ apparently doubled in RAM and CPU speeds, better camera, finger/waterproof body (i think???), faster 3G speeds (depending on networks of course).

    For new customers/ones eligible to at&t will only get the $99 3G 8GB / 149 3G 16GB / $199 3GS 16GB / $299 3GS 32GB prices.

People who have the 3G will have to pay an extra premium cost on top of the price for the phone in order to get the upgrade 3G/3GS. So youll have to either pay the extra cost or wait for your contract to finish then upgrade.

You can pre order the iphone on Apple.com & Wireless.att.com/iphone now.

I checked how much I would have to pay and it came out to 430 with the $18 upgrade charge plus tax

    =/

Ill just wait for the 3.0 update and call it a day. The 3.0 firmware is also leaked online via torrents - Gizmodo tried it out and worked. Im on the fence about it since i can just see people putting out a firmware and it being some F'd up firmware and kill the phone.

    -----

    New and Qualifying Customers** $199 (16GB) and $299 (32GB) $99 (8GB) and $149 (16GB*)
    -
    Early Upgrade Price $399 (16GB) and $499 (32GB) $299 (8GB) and $349 (16GB*)
    -
    No-Commitment $599 (16GB) and $699 (32GB) $499 (8GB) and $549 (16GB*)

I like the $99 price tag on the 3G, but it's still on AT&T sadly.

    Symbian s60 v5 is a good OS!
But what I like about it is the fact that it can play and record HD videos and that awesome LED display.
