How many HD's (size, ssd or not) do you have on your home system?

Currently have a 120SSD for windows, and 2 1tb drives. They are not Sata 6.0, but 3.0). Thinking of just buying a Sata 6.0 2TB, partition it, and be done with it.

Personally, my primary rig has 4X corsair ssd's all feed a areca 1213-4i raid card in a raid 0 configuration.

If you do get a single 2tb drive, use your 2 1tb dries as backup storage.

Put all files/music/video's.. on them and then remove them from the computer-when it is off-and wrap them in soft towels to protect them until they are needed.

I need to get either some external cases or a NAS of some kind because I have more drives than bays and ports at the moment.

    As it stands:

    160GB OCZ Vertex 2 - system drive
750GB Seagate FreeAgent Pro via eSATA - storage
    2TB Seagate - storage
1TB WD Black - Steam games only pretty much
    1.5TB Samsung - storage
    1TB WD Black - storage
    2TB Seagate - storage
60GB OCZ Vertex Plus - srcds

And in a box waiting to be used:

500GB Seagate Momentus XT - backup laptop drive at the moment
160GB Fujitsu laptop drive - a really old laptop image but I honestly can't think of much use for it given the tiny size
250GB Seagate Momentus - original drive to the laptop
500GB Seagate 7200.11 - Linux distros and Windows install disc ISO backups
1TB Seagate 7200.11 - storage waiting to be installed
750GB Seagate 7200.10 - storage waiting to be installed

Ideally, I'd like a proper server box for most of these. But, as it stands, it would be just fine to have them in external boxes on the main machine as it really is a shame to not be using them.

Very simple setup for me, 1TB caviar black for the os, programs and games. One 1TB for movies and another 2TB for tv and documentaries. Use external hdds for backup and they're not switched on unless needed for backup and restore.

    1. 64GB Vertex2 for OS and key programs
    2. 1TB WD for installed games and regularly used stuff
    3. 2x2TB WD Storage in RAID 1 for storage of everything. Sitting in a separately powered and cooled external case, disconnected unless needed.

    Nothing fancy.

You might look into the new NAS specific WD Red drives for that application.

    I have:
    128GB Samsung 830 -OS
640GB WD Blue, accelerated by 64GB Vertex 2 - Games
128GB Velociraptor (temporary) - Important documents
1TB WD Green - Media storage, mainly backup for HTPC
2TB Samsung F4 - Music and Media, most duplicated on HTPC

My old documents drive blew up right when HDD prices went through the roof, I'll eventually replace the Raptor with another 1 or 2 TB 7200 rpm drive.

I have another drive stashed away with the backup of my old doc's drive, but I can't unpack it all until I replace the raptor.
