Cheers mate, the 5960X seems to be doing OK even on air! Need to get it all stripped down really and start getting the SOC Champ insulated for my ss and LN2.

Not sure about the 1070 yet, it's in my gaming rig all snug and water-cooled atm lol not sure I want to strip all that down just yet either. I do plan to at some point as my golden 4770K is in there and that needs some LN2 attention! I bought the 50L dewar ;) So sometime over the coming months you can expect to see my first LN2 runs ;)

I'll probably experiment with my 3570K first on the UD3H then bump it up to the 5960X again, should still do well with that chip as I don't think to many people are doing 6950Xs due to the cost of buying one and Skylake X shouldn't be out for a while :)

Hows you anyway dude! Been benching at all?

Any of you OC experts could help me with ram OC timings?
I tested some new timings tweaks and I Finally got 38.8GB/s for the first time ever after 3.5yrs xD, but only halfway:pc1:

the one highlighted was @ 10 for 2400MHz , now I set all 3 to 11 or it won't boot.. and tWTR 10 was manual 8 and tRTP 10 was also 8, is any of them for write and copy?

Tj, your write speed seems kinda low for that speed.

Yes that's why I asked if anyone knows how to fix it, doh :D

From what I saw almost all Z87/97 are not tuned for 26xx+ ram and if at auto timings they set them too high.. I've manually override read and as you see I reached 38.8 like it should be, not 27-30gb/s if bugged.

So anyway, now I tested some more 3rd timings (set close to 2400 timings) and I fixed it half way, but 2400MHZ is still better by write 37.5 and copy 35.8gb/s..

2nd timings are mix of 2400 and 2600mhz..

I got READ even better almost 40GB lol, but write and copy is still somewhat meh :pc1:

Ok to finish my monologue :nerd:

Trick was mostly in 3rd timings (used replica of 2400mhz timings), look at that write and copy go :D

Vs best off someone I found on net with 2666MHz

Nice work Tj, memory timings and what not is not something I know much about yet. Need to start working on this myself.

My gaming rig is back up and running atm, so I'm going to start playing with the G.Skill 2400Mhz C9 I have here. I want to hit 40GB/s also ;)

I'll be running my 4770K at 4.7GHz and 4.4Ghz Uncore during all tests so's not to skew anything.

    First run

G.Skill 2400Mhz 9-11-11-31 2T 1.65v All other timings are on Auto XMP is disabled.

    Run at 2600Mhz 10-12-12-31 2T / All other timings are Auto / 1.7v vDIMM

    [IMG]free upload

Only Write speed got better, the rest got worse! Guessing Secondary and Thirds need a lot of tweaking.

    EDIT

Well that was fun! Tried to set C9 and got no post, kept looping, so I reset CMOS and lost my saved profile in BIOS doing so! wtf! Hope I can remember all my settings again.

    Thanks,

btw this should help you fix it.. That guy helped me too a little, but I think it will work for you more, since you have GB mobo.

    https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...locking-clubhouse.185344/page-59#post-3557419

    3rd timings are somewhat crucial.

Also I used default 1.65v for 2600, I think you can too up to 2666 or even 2800 since it has such lower latency.

EDIT: and this could help you too, it did with my old 2133MHZ CL9 ram if I OC'ed to 2400 CL10..

Ram current % or by gigabyte in mv. Default is 100%, I had to use 120% or it would sometimes fail by cold boot or by reset (turn off and on).
Same thing now when I OC from 2400 to 2600, I had this on/off by restart.. 120% fixed it.. In your case 2 steps from default.

Cheers mate, I may have solved the issue though, I have disabled Fast Boot, I'd forgotten this had happened before and I resolved it by disabling it. Obviously after I'd reset my BIOS and lost everything I'd forgotten to re-disable it. Hopefully thats fixed it now and I can get back to tinkering with my mems.

    Mucking around @ 2666Mhz C10

    [IMG]image hosting 15mb

More playing at 2666Mhz C10 - Edited 2nds to 2400Mhz timings and edited some 3rds to 2400Mhz timings

    [IMG]upload img

Upped bclk to 101Mhz everything else was kept the same

    [IMG]upload image

Not bad! Wonder how stable it all is.

Cool you fixed it too, yeah 3rd timings get too relaxed.. Funny though.

Mine at 2600mhz was a bit unstable in the end, not sure where to fix it.. It would either crash apps or hard freeze by demanding games or even bsod memory management.

I tried 2nd timings at auto, only 3rd manual and still doing it..
But I dont want to raise 3rd too much or it will break and start using lower bandwidth again, ok I did it one time, raised from 4 to 5 (tWRWR) and it already dropped write again

    EDIT: I see you're using these @ 12
    [IMG]upload photo

I think this could do the trick as its very sensitive, 2400mhz uses 10, 26xx @ 10 doesn't boot..

Mines not stable either, all hell broke loose when I tried to run SuperPi32M, 1M was OK but 32M got like 4 loops in I think, not very far.

I've just upped vDRAM to 1.7v from 1.66v see if that helps.

What do you run VSA at? I'm +0.300 in BIOS but IOD and IOA are Auto.

Maybe compare with mine and raise a few more, I see 2nd timing is a bit tight, tRFC, tRTP, tWTR.

My sticks are 2x8GB and even at default 2400 it doesn't want to run stable with tRFC bellow 250.. So for now I keep it at default 313.

VSA - as in VCCSA cpu system agent? I have that 0.050 or up to 0.060+ offset for 4.7GHz, I never used it more then 0.100v+ offset., other two values at auto as well, I saw by Aida64 it auto adjusted them accordingly.

    EDIT:
VCCSA helped to some point with my old Crucial Balistix Elite 4x4GB 2133 CL9 kit@ 2400mhz, but as extra I had to raise Dram current voltage (or % in my case), from 100 to 120%. I think yours is in mv and maybe you need to raise for 2 steps too.

Like I mentioned 2-3posts above. :nerd:

    oh nice matt
just watch the gpu's you use some might not want that much cold if you dont have too much voltage running through it.
your cpus will fly like you never seen before when you start pumping voltage.
    good luck

    cool is that a UD5?
mine was a pain when -90c(all 3) but the 4 or 5 chips on ln2 were easy to get 6.1+ 3d with it.i just worked fast lol
you know I wonder what my 4770k will do cold? not sure how well the ud4 I got with it will be,but I should try while I have some free time.

waiting for the 1080 ti and that vega card so long now

have a kickas5 time matt I know I would :nerd:

It's the Ud3h mate, my UD5 stopped working so I sold it o Ebay for parts not working :(

Looking forward to start playing with it, Ive done all the insulation now, just gotta get her setup back upstairs. Only be doing 2d though

You should find out while you wait, once I've played with this I'm going to put my 4770K under too ;)

Can't be much longer for 1080ti now surely, pascal has been out a while now!
