In the US you can arrange pickup, but the site still requires payment up front, through the Ebay site.
It not just you, they are too high. It used to not be that much in the past. Now you get double whammy by ebay and paypal which ebay owns.
@ OP, its not just you. Selling on feeBay is not what it used to be at all, and what they get away with legally is pretty outrageous to me. They claim "list for free"! But hit you hard with the final value fee, and then hit you again with their sister company (that they own btw) Paypal. You're charged twice for the same sale basically. No one wants to send you a money order in the mail and they want to send you payment electronically, so there is no avoiding the Paypal fee on top of the eBay fee. Can you say rip off??? :bang:
I always sell things locally, no fees = win. But i think you can get alot more money at ebay, the things i sell here are way cheaper then they sell for on ebay. Like my laptop sells for over 1k on ebay, while i could only get 900 for it here. (euro's) Dutch people always want things dirt cheap. But i only use ebay to get stuff that isn't released here or available yet.
Incorrect. They do put limits for certain objects though. I couldnt put more than £2.50 for a book, even though it was a 2000 page book lol. I have used ebay for the last time as the fees balance the amount of money i make versus just selling it locally.
The fees have been an issue for awhile now with them. It all depends on the item and situation if I list or use another method now. It's really unfortunate cause back in the day, it was a great way to get rid of your junk on the cheap.
Ebay fees are ridiculously high, but then again, there is no where in the world you will get top dollar for merchandise like on eBay. I sell a lot of electronics on eBay and my eBay fees are easily $900-1200/month.
but then your income is ridicously high. Instead of paying renting in one of the best streets, you pay them for a good international street I use it to sell a few pieces of non-very expensive hardware (my remainings), but when i want to sell something expensive, I would go to special forums and such....
Its swings and roundabouts, i`ve spent a lot on ebay fees over the years but i`ve had my share of bargains wins as well.
I stand corrected gentlemen. They do take the final value fee from postage. By by eBay, last time I will ever sell anything there. There is not money to be made compared to other areas.
