i am thinking about upgrading my pc as my mobo is giving up on me lately and i am really looking forward to get an amd setup. :D but i have no idea of what to buy so im hoping you guys could point out the good options. :D

I use my pc for gaming on my sony bravia 40".. and i use my pc for home recording purposes with Sonar X1... and of course for listening to music and for watching movies + porn. :p

my 4850 served me well but it recently died so i have a 9800gtx+ atm.

    okay here are my options:

for motherboard im biased towards gigabyte. i have this motherboard on my mind http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514 please tell me if its good or not. thank you.

for processors, i have no clue atm but i think this is a good option http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284 but i don't know if that is an overkill or not.

for rams, i have no clue about whats good for amd low latency or higher bus so i would want to know your opinions on 8gbx2 =16gb memory. what do you guys think bout these rams?

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220733

for my cpu cooler im thinking about these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181015

and for my os i was thinking about a ssd drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-227-791 i could surely use a cheaper price for ssd's...

and one last question how is corsair psu's? there are not many renowned brands in my country to chose from i have corsairs and thermaltake to chose from.

hoping to see your replies soon. :D

all of your selected hardware is superb...
the gigabyte 990fx ud3 - ok, if you plan to go for sli or crossfire in the future, single gpu I would suggest 970 ud3 mobo

fx8350 is overkill if you not planning in playing games but the performance will last you a long time, go for it

get the G. skill ram that you posted because it has lower latency = faster, and g. skill ram is known for their performance

hydro h60 is best if you can adopt h80 is much better for OC

ssd is ok, 120gb model is the best bang for buck nowaday

corsair psu is good, it is in it's own class of quality

    and your GPU?
all your setup there is best for gaming if you put in a nice GPU and the budget allow you

It is shown that Intel CPUs respond better in games. If you play games on 1080p I would suggest you take a look into the intel grounds. I'm not an Intel fanboy, I'm just going where the performance is.

You also did not mention what GPU you are going to buy as I suppose you wont stick to the 9800gtx. AT this time the best value for money comes with the 7950 as it can easily clock and surpass a 7970 at stock. If you are really serious about gaming you might want to get the 7970 for 100 extra euros. I am in a dilemma suggesting you the new Titan or GTX 690 as they are way expensive but currently they are the best GPUs on the market.

All my Ati cards were Sapphire and I only have good things to say about the brand.

but my question is, will amd lack that far behind that i would be bottlenecked? i mean i am getting a good enough gpu lets say a 7850 as i have mentioned, will a i7 rig with the same gpu give me more performance per buck?

as for your gpu recommendations i am on a budget so i can't really go for a 79xx series. i am not willing to go for fx series if the jump is not worth it from a 1090 series.

again i am not looking to build a machine to bench im just making a midrange machine which will be able to play games on a decent settings and able to work on my workstation.

AMD CPUs lack in performance compared to Intel CPUs. That does not mean they are not good or they will bottleneck a mid range card. With the GPU you are selecting you won't be able to bottleneck the CPU unless it's a very old one.

No. By getting a 7850 it would be a waste of money to get an expensive i7. You can settle with an i5 unlocked CPU and have a better value for money.

The 7950 is priced as a mid-high end card but in reality is a high end card. If you cannot go for it I would suggest a gtx 480. According to passmark (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html) You will have a better value if you get a GTX 480 as it scores more than 7850. Price is about 200 euros.

ALso, it comes down to whether you want to OC. Ati cards have the tendency to OC higher and better that NVidia and they use way less power.

The i5-3570K will do just fine for your system and it will last you for some more years and it can be overclocked. And it costs only 30 more euros than the FX-8350. The FX CPUs are good but not in gaming as the benchmarks show.

I understand your concern but if you want to play on a 1080p monitor and enjoy your game, that means having some extra details that look awesome on a big screen you need to give a little extra. Having given 100 euros more to get something good will make an investment for the future as to enjoy your pc some more in the future years. For example, I recently updated my PC with the specs you see and I planned to spend about 450-500 euros. I spent 600 euros but I know it will stick with me for at least 3-4 years playing games on Ultra quality.

It's up to you whether you want to enjoy your games now and need to upgrade again in a year or spend a little extra and having to upgrade in 2-3 years from now.

Edit: I'm making a search to see how valid passmark is. I'll reply shortly. (Ok, it's pretty valid).
