Guru3D's Folding Stars

***Warning may be a stupid question*** Just wondering, will overclocking my GTX 275 while folding increase my folding rate enough to justify doing it? Too late, probably should be in another thread.

 

To be honest an over-clock for folding is not going to help that much. I keep mine at stock clocks.

overclocking shaders and memory will push your ppd up by about 200-500 points depending on the overclock and the wu

 

getting past 300k soon =)

Sweet! I just got over 80,000.

 

I have a GTX280 and with 689/1483/1282 clocks, the folding speeds up by about 20 minutes compared to stock clocks when the folding takes about 1h 30mins

 

I was just going by personal experience.. Yes an over clock will give you a PPD boost, but when you are folding 24/7 the extra heat/load on the gpu is going to ruduce the life span of your card, and I for one can not afford to be replaceing cards every few months, that is why I keep my GTX275's at stock speeds.

yoyo69 what kind of folding setup do you have?

 

I have 2 x GTX275's in my main rig (non SLI) and 1 x 9800GT & 1 x 8800GT on a dedicated folding rig I do not fold on cpu's my potencial total 24Hr PPD is 28,000+.

 

Nice setup!

 

Ive joined the fight with my gtx275. Been fold 24/7 on the gpu console client for a few days now. Gonna set up my spare rig to fold with 2x8800gts 640's i have laying around.
