In the process of obtaining this lovely one.

Before anyone asks, no it is not the Turbo edition....It's only the 3.0 L SOHC engine it, still pushes about 180HP at least.

Got new brakes to match the stupid power...also offsets the entire black look of the car. :)

thanks man! I love this car.

Stupid fast (640RWHP mustang dyno (around 780hp at motor))
Stupid practical (big trunk, gets 17-18mpg city and 25-28mpg highway, cheap to insure)
    Stupid awesome looks

It's just about the best bang for your buck in the USA. :)

I just took some better photos not in overcast weather...

Was on the motorway at 2am last night when an A6 blew past me doing about 170kmh. I had the cruise set at 120.

Usually my first reaction would be"yeah you go u wanker" etc......but instead I was thinking: You know I have to admit, they do look good from behind...:D

The road was deserted so I think he just wanted to show off his LED's.....:p

    Meanwhile, in other news....

Yep, the Corvette is very low slung and compact. The center of gravity is excellent on the newer ones and they corner very well indeed.

Replaced my C320 with a Saab 9-5 last month.
@Pill, moving back to NZ in August, Auckland is the target, rather than going back to Tauranga. Bringing the Saab with me, and the wifes Saab 9-3.
The 9-5 has a stg1 remap which should be good for 235bhp, was a massive difference over stock.

Nice. :) I actually live in Auckland, near Ponsonby. A Saab would stand out nicely from every 2nd Audi, BMW, Merc or Porsche Cayenne parked on the main street. :p

Btw if you're looking to buy in Aucks then prepare yourself because house prices have gone completely insane. An average 3 bedroom dump near town will set you back nearly 1M.

I think apartments and townhouses are a bit less.

I knew you were in Auckland somewhere, didn't realize you were that central. My sister is in Farm Cove so I am probably considering Howick way, though my little brother is in Blockhouse Bay so wants me there too.
Not got a job yet so that may very well decide where we stay anyway.
Saab will defo stand out, I know I never saw many in Tauranga, though I did sell one when I did a stint as a car salesman.
I know prices are high, certainly not expecting to be able to buy for a while, unless I cruise up and down K Road in my pimp wagon.

    If it's a Detroit Turbo Diesel, it'll be a 6.5L. 6.6L if it's a Duramax.

Did you know, the H1 Hummer isn't actually that wide by modern standards. All three full size pickups on sale today (F150, Silverado & Ram) are actually wider than the Hummer.

Beautiful! I love older Saabs, and that color scheme is just perfect.

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm originally from Hamilton, only been in Auckland for a 2yrs.
I do own a place in Hams but I'm not selling it just to get half as much house in Aucks for twice as much money. :p

Hey BTW how many km's did you have on your 528 when the trans fluid was replaced. I talked to BMWorkshop and the tech told me it's risky to replace the fluid after 130K, mines got 170k. But I intend to keep the car and don't want the trans crappinmg out which will cost 4k to recon.?

it was at about 145000miles (UK not NZ car), I'd read about not doing anything either, unless there is a problem. Mine was starting to thump on kickdown, I asked my indy garage and he said he didn't have the kit for it, so I found a BMW specialist that did it for £400, I felt like it was a lot of money, but as it was a specialist job (not like on the Saab, the Gibbons technique worked a treat).
It cured the thump and a colleague has it now, on 177,000miles, and still going strong, 2nd best car I ever had.

My C6 handles really good (Bilstein setup) however my C7 (new one) with magnetic ride is just that much better in the handling department (and in other areas too) :)

Ok I have an issue, another Alfa Romeo 156 has found its way onto the drive.

The BMW wasn't really doing it for me, so naturally I bought the sheddiest 156 around ?!

Good bits, its black on teledials with tan leather with only 78k on it :D

Bad bits, I think it needs a clutch, definitly going to get belts done as well as tyres and brakes (the exhaust too as its not really working well - it does sound good though!). Oh and a deep clean, and maybe a little paint.

What was stupid about that comment? I was just alluding to the fact that if you rip the body off a C5 on up, it looks more reminiscent of a Go-Kart than its profile would imply. The engine sits low and right up against the firewall. Keeps the tail from being twitchy, and improves turn-in and all that jazz.

And yes, the C7 obviously is the best equipped, because GM wanted to modernize the design. The older ones, however basic in tech, are still pretty ingenious and still perform very well.

Dude nothing stupid just agreeing with you. :)

The C7 with magnetic ride is just unreal and sublime. My good friend who loves his AWD cars was blown away at how well a RWD car could handle with the right suspension. He has an Evo X with coilovers and is a beast in the corners.

I put him in the driver seat in track mode on the C7 with magnetic ride and we were clipping well over 1 G in all corners and he was shocked at how solid and composed the car was. No twitchy tail, no body roll, etc.

Then I threw it in Tour mode and you could feel the body roll but my oh my what a smooth drive. It changes from one to the other in seconds. Mind boggling!!! :nerd:
