What was the last game you played which really left you in awe? That kind of holy cow this game is just down right amazing feeling. I cant answer this question because its been so long. I never played the last of us, but since it will be out soon on PS4 I will get it for sure. This year looks good for gaming!
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim on PC then before that Oblivion on the Xbox 360, the first Elder Scrolls game that clicked with me after struggling to enjoy Morrowind on PC, and before that it was World of Warcraft, which was my first taste of an MMORPG back in (I think) 2004. Those are the games that stand out for me because I played them solidly for months and often for hours each day as well, something I rarely do with games these days.
I always enjoyed the story of Crysis 2. Found it to be really cinematic in places and the soundtrack was pretty awesome. Expecting some backlash from this ha.
I didn't know a single thing about Deus Ex: Human Revolution, never seen any images or posters, trailers. Someone gifted it to me, just decided to give it a try. Amazing game. Amazing soundtrack. Playing CoD4 for the first time was pretty awe inspiring too. My character could die in the campaign?!?!?!
I got Spec Ops the line for like 4.99 on a steam sale a couple months back. after finishing it i was in awe of the amazing story. never would have guessed it would be so great.
Many ... Warcraft 3's campaign (especially the human campaign), Bioshock, Mass Effect 2, Batman Arkham City, Fallout New Vegas, Walking Dead Season 1, Wolfenstein TNO, Tomb Raider 2013 ...
GTA IV on console (played on Xbox 360, actually it was a reason I bought it, heard that PS3 version was worse) also Far Cry 2 for it's atmosphere and graphics, Assassin's Creed for it's ideas, even if missions could be little boring (not for me).
Silent Hill 1, GTA 3, BioShock 1, Max Payne 1/2, Alan Wake 3), Portal, HL, Team Fortress 2 (yeah, deal with it), Skyrim\Oblivion. Before these, my old SEGA Genesis saw a lot of Phantasy Star IV and Sonic. My dying wish is to see a new Phantasy Star using old ones style. I've always enjoyed more Phantasy Star lore than Final Fantasy (my fav FF is VI, very neat game).
Bioshock Infinite and STALKER Call of Pripyat I really hope to see another STALKER game like CoP but with even bigger maps I think I'll reinstall this, never did finish because i forgot backup my save games
Hitman: Silent Assassin. Played the demo version as a kid. Took me a long to manage how to use guns .I was even scared of the main menu soundtrack(i muted it).Now I found how amazing the soundtrack is . Sorry for bad english.
Mario3/Mario64/ZeldaOoT/GoldenEye/SilentHill/GranTurismo/MetalGearSolid/SoulReaver/Daggerfall/Everquest/SystemShock2/GTA3/HalfLife/MaxPayne Last 10 years or so.. maybe DS and HL2, the only ones to come even close to "awe" status
Silent Hill (1st one), Metro 2033, System Shock, Resident Evil (1st one), EQ, SWG (and many others ) Speaking of 'The Last of Us', I have almost caved and bought a PS4 just for this game on several occasions but I am still holding out
Metro 2033 was the last game i fully finished off, so id say that, wasn't keen on it after playing the demo, but decided to pick it up in a Steam sale, and gald i did, as its a cracking game once you get past the poor start.
