Now it's a lot less than 780ti. You could've saved a fair chunk going AMD. You wouldn't have gone AMD anyway though.

AMD couldn't touch retailers without risking legal repercussions. Remember, the US uses a modified "free market" system which gives retailers the right to set prices themselves.

For all of AMD's board partners to enforce pricing agreements on retailers, both AMD and their board partners risk incurring charges for price fixing. Not something AMD wants to go through a second time.

Price fixing like this would be stupid. AMD made the card, have it a rrp, which was reasonably low. Then the demand went through the roof, AMD kept the rrp. If I was expecting AMD to regulate prices, I would expect every manufacturer to do the same. That would remind me of communism. No thank you

AMD regulates the price as much as they legally can. They set the chipset price. The board partner sets the price retailers/e-tailers pay per unit. The retailer or e-tailer sets the price customers pay. That's how the market in the US is intended to work.

It works quite well too. I paid $179.99 for a GTX660..... Card was on sale $50 off, dropping it from $279.99 to $229.99. Then I had a $50 gift card that brought the price down to $179.99. My local BestBuy is always $50-$250 above MSRP on NVidia graphics cards.

Where I live the retail price of the ASUS 780Ti is $800.00 I saved myself a huge chunk of change by getting two GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5 which are mini ITX 760's. Total cost on my two mini ITX 760's was $600.00. When I saw what the price on the ASUS 780Ti I was like no way I'm gonna blow $1600.00 to get two of those cards and SLI them.

I live in the U.S. by the way, but not any where near any of the major retailers like Newegg.

If the rumors on the new chips are true, I'm not in a rush to go out and get two new cards, pull my currents cards out and shove in the new cards, as my currents are doing just fine for gaming.

800 for a ti is quite expensive. Even the ti classys are much cheaper than that.

They're $700-800 at BestBuy. Newegg is $700 to $860. The 780Ti Classified K1ngP1n edition card is $860 from Newegg.

Er, forgot that Newegg was an e-tailer. Didn't look at Best Buy were I live, which we have. The local shops sell the 780Ti for $800, and I wasn't even about ask about the other brands such as MSI, Gigabyte, EVGA and the like as they would have just as expensive, if not more.

Not sure what the 770 or 770Ti's are selling for in local shops where I live off hand.

Gaming cards range from 679 to 739 on newegg for the classy. That kingpin card is an overpriced benchmarking card that would be a waste for 99% of pc enthusiasts including me.

Nope, have had the 760's over a month, and the store I got them from has a 30 day return policy, so unless the cards are defective in some way, I can't take the cards in for RMA either, unless I want to pay a restocking fee. I didn't want to break the bank, er pocket book when I got them.

I'm also not in the habit of upgrading my videocards every year, if I can help it, too expensive money wise.

I bought the 780 ti because i had a feeling the real high end maxwell would be late. 700 dollars is the most i ever spent for a gpu, and im not upgrading till 980!

I payed $729 per gpu most I ever payed. Previous high was $559 for 680ftw 4gb cards. The ti was easily worth that price difference. Didn't expect high end maxwell any time soon either.

I'm more than satisfied with my 760's, they are running everything, including Skyrim which is on Ultra settings with no problems at all.

yeah im running HEAVILY modded skyrim with realvision enb and its awsome! lowest fps i get is around 40. this game with the realvision enb, grass mods and texture mods make other games look average. it looks even a fair amount better than crysis 3 overall.

I looked up the 780Ti on Newegg before I posted and that was the price range. GTX780 (non-Ti) is going for $500-600 on Newegg. Prices below $700 are cards that are on sale.
