Yeah, feature wise it was between Onkyo, Yamaha and Sony in the pricegroup I had set. Had to fork out a bit more for Pioneers with DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD support. Sort of essential for me. Plus Hilbert has been pushing Onkyo like mad :p Would've nice to have a Pioneer receiver to match my TV though :D

Nice! Eltax KH502... any more info on those? I googled it, but very little came up.

Oh, and the positioning of your center could be improved :p

i know no more than you about the Eltax's i'm afraid ... a friend of mine in the local hifi shop gave me a call and asked if i'd like to audition them for a week or 2 ... they are 2nd hand but barely used and an import model from Germany i believe ...
If you look carefully on the wall above the tv you can see the filler marks from where the center shelf used to sit ... seems it needs longer screws to cope with the vibration from the speaker... Fortunately i saw it sag before it fell off and saved the centre .. lol

Eltax are Danish I believe. They were very common over here a few years back, but nowadays I rarely see anything from them at all.

My sub is an Eltax too and i have to admit i'm quite pleased with that ... is just these 502's there doesn't seem to be much info about other than what my friend had got from the previous owner and when i say import i mean he purchased them in Germany and brought them back with him but hasn't ever really used them apart from making sure they worked ... Have to say from listening to them for a couple of hours this evening i'm not convinced they match up with my celestions yet but as i said i really should give them time to bed in properly before i make any final decisions ..

    AV Receiver: Denon AVR-484
Player: HTPC (plays over 200 HD 720/1080p files and stores over 30 full season TV shows)

    Speakers:
    Fronts: Klipsch RB-61
    Center: Klipsch RC-52
    Surrounds: JBL J50
    Sub: Infinity PS-10

    Cost: $4,000 (built in pieces)

Runs like a charm. Those Klipsch fronts are just ungodly for music and the center is a dream for movies. Utilizes two remotes (an RF remote that acts like a Wii remote for a mouse) and the iPhone over Wifi. :)

Some preliminary photos of my setup as of now. I got the speakers today so I haven't had much time to tidy up cables and position everything 100% yet, but I've had some time to test them and they sound amazing. At first I thought the bass sounded too weak, but after a few hours of playing they really did loosen up and now the bass is right where it should be.

I'm using my laptop with HDMI and digital audio passthrough ATM as a media center until the Popcorn Hour C-200 comes in stock over here, so it's a bit messy.

    Gear:

TV: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 50" Gen. 9 plasma. My pride and joy!

    A/V Receiver: Onkyo TX-RS507B

Speakers: Dynavoice Magic F-6 floorstanders, Dynavoice Magic C-4 EX center, Dynavoice Magic S-4 surround.

Next thing to get is that Popcorn Hour and a subwoofer (XTZ... I'm looking at you!).

    Thank you very much. :D

I've been spending so much time in front the TV watching movies lately that it's been 4 days since I even booted up my main rig!

Wow, I would spend night and day in front of that rig if I owned it:D

We are looking for another house at the moment. I don't have the room in our living room to set up my speakers properly. I really, really want to get my speakers set up correctly. I'll then think about upgrading them!:D

So first off, it would be really nice if everybody can post a photo of their Home Theater setup. It would really enhance this thread.

So I made some changes to my setup recently, here we go:

    • Philips Ambilight LCD TV 119cm (47PFL9603D/10 1920x1080 Full HD
    • Philips BDP5000 Blu-ray Player
    • Onkyo TX-N905 THX Ultra 2 II Plus certified / 7.1 / HQV Reon-VX video processing (w/1080p upscaling) / 4x HDMI in / 2x HDMI out.
    • Bose Acoustimass 15 speakers (5.1)
    • HTPC running MediaPortal / Q6600 / 8800 GTS 512 / Vista / 4GB / 128GB solid state routed to NAS in another room (to preserve silence). Housed in the Zalman HD160XT Plus HTPC chassis with touch-screen.
Here are some photo's, I really enjoy Ambilight by the way. It visually makes your screen size experience even bigger.

All sound is connected through optical and HDMI.

A couple of photo's on the telly -- to show Ambilight a little better.

My pride and Joy Onkyo AV receiver.

On top the Blu-ray player, below it the HTPC with the Zalman chassis. Don't mind the little LCD screen there though, need to alter a setting.

Ok, just moved to Uni so for the first time have things set up properly.

    Consists of:
    PC (in my specs)
    17" AOC Monitor - 1280*1024
    23" LG Monitor/TV - 1920*1080
    Yamaha speakers (white ones)
Maxell Speakers (black ones with sub behind the monitors)
Original Xbox softmodded with 200GB HDD and 215 films on it, upgrading to a 750GB HDD when I get round to it, running the HD kit so it upscales to 1080i.
Also my laptop, acer aspire one.
Then my 20gig 3G ipod and my nano somewhere.

The award winning XTZ 99 W10.16 subwoofer! Came over an offer I could not refuse, and I don't regret it. This thing is utterly insane. It goes so damn deep that the entire house was about to fall apart earlier when I tested.... now to wait for my landlord to go on one of his trips! :D
