I don't know if it's really that much of an upgrade in all honesty.

I currently have an MSI 670 Power Edition OC.

I could sell it towards the new one but I'm not so sure of the performance gain I would receive.

    Am I right in thinking 770 is basically a 680 ?

    The simple answer is no.

Don't think his motherboard supports SLI.

I did consider SLI but then I'm thinking it's more hassle driver wise.

A single solution is easier to manage.

I'm upping my MOBO soon too btw ;o)

I'll see what's going down on Fleabay and may get a secondary 670.

Do I have to match my card like for like or can I get away with other references of the same card ?

Just make sure you get the same VRAM size as your current.

The GTX 770 is better, but only a bit. I would definitely go with Gigabyte GTX 770 OC 4GB Windforce. You would definitely need more than 2GB of video ram, unfortunately.

Recently added a second 670 myself. It really does make a difference.

Another No here as well. SLI would be your best option but not if you have to factor in the cost of a new MB... if you're going to replace the MB anyway, get another 670.

A no here as well, I owned a 770 and even though it was a great card I'd say upgrade the mobo and get the sli 670's and you'll be good to go.

I'm currently awaiting my 780 to get here I would say as a single card solution the 780 is really nice right now with the price drop.

Thanks for all your replies fellas.

Looks like it's not worth getting a new 770 then.
I do now have a new MOBO, an MSI Z87-G45 capable of SLI so an additional 670 may be the route, although SLI driver issues do still casue me concern.

On the other hand I just built my kid a rig with my old Sandybridge 2500 and ASUS mobo.
I bought him a Sapphire R7 260X 2GB to put in inside it. He will be well chuffed with it as it will run Minecraft but...

I could give him my 670 and then I could get the 770....hmmmm food for thought.
