Teen Accused Of Shooting Santa With Pellet Gun
    http://www.wftv.com/news/4016308/detail.html

SHAMOKIN, Pa. -- Santa definitely knows one boy was not nice this year.

A 17-year-old is accused of firing a pellet gun from a second-story window, hitting a man dressed as Santa Claus on Monday night. Police said the boy confessed.

Scott Slodysko, a volunteer fireman, was riding atop a fire truck when he heard a popping sound at an intersection.

"It felt like a bee stung me -- like a very bad bee sting."

Slodysko said he knew immediately that somebody with a pellet gun was to blame.

He described the wound as "a black-and-blue mark about the size of a silver dollar" and said the attack won't stop him from portraying Santa next year.

"We do this for the kids," Slodysko said. "I just can't believe someone would do something like that."

    French teenagers mug Santa Claus
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4117383.stm

A group of French teenagers have mugged Father Christmas, attempting to steal his sack of presents.

The man dressed as Santa Claus was handing out sweets in the southern town of Ales when things turned nasty.

One of the teenagers demanded extra sweets and, when the red-cloaked Santa refused, he and his friends started kicking and pummelling the man.

The teenager and his friends, all about 15 years of age, were eventually scared off by passers-by.

Father Christmas suffered multiple bruises and has lodged a criminal complaint

PC on earth for Santa: Boy Claus booted out of N.H. school dance
    http://news.bostonherald.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=60321
    Boston Herald by Kevin Rothstein

A 12-year-old New Hampshire boy who wanted to jolly up his junior high dance by dressing in a Santa suit instead got a lesson in political correctness when his Scroogelike principal turned the student away, fearing he might offend his classmates.

``I go by the principal and he asked me what I was wearing. I said a Santa suit and he shakes his head,'' recalled Hampton Academy Junior High student Bryan Lafond.

To make matters worse, Principal Fred Muscara sent the preteen home from the holiday dance by himself to change into more secular attire. His mother spotted her son in the rearview mirror as she drove away.

``He was crying, he was upset,''
Leslie Lafond said. ``He did it all to be Santa, to make people smile and laugh. That's what Santa does.''

"After they left the sign, we weren't that surprised to see him stolen," Moxon said. "We heard they had some [lost Christ figures] at the police station. Maybe we'll go look down there."

Woodstock Police Chief Joe Marvin said three Christ figures were reported stolen from mangers the night of Dec. 8, and Moxon's household did not report its theft. Two Christ figures have been found discarded.

    • Figures from the Salem United Methodist Church in Barrington, Ill., were stolen from the sanctuary right after they were put on display after Thanksgiving
    • in Lockport, Ill., saw their holiday decorations, including their Nativity scene, attacked five times in seven days, at least once by a carload of bat-wielding boys. They finally gave up and took down the ornaments.
    • The Christ figure in Chicago's life-size Nativity scene in downtown Daley Center Plaza was stolen this year for the second time in its history

Must have been a good parking spot...

    Three Women Charged After Fight
Dispute Over Parking Space In Crowded Lot Erupts Into Brawl

    CTnow.com
Hartford (CT) Courant by DANIELA ALTIMARI

WEST HARTFORD -- Forget good will and peace on earth: With less than a week of shopping to go, it's every driver for herself.

A dispute over a parking space Sunday erupted into a brawl, and now three women may be doing time on Santa's naughty list.

It all started just after 3:30 p.m. in the crowded lot of the Corbins Corner Shopping Center, home to Best Buy, Toys "R" Us and other popular retailers. Parking vacancies were more elusive than iPods.

When a space suddenly appeared, two cars jockeyed to claim it.

    Then things turned ugly.

A woman riding in one of the cars whipped an orange peel at the other vehicle. Angry words were exchanged. Three women jumped out of the cars and, within moments, Officer Kevin McCarthy said, "all three went to the ground."

"It turned into a little free-for-all," he said.

No one was hurt, but Luz Alicea, 43, Jasmin Kurtz, 16, both of Hartford, and Julia Baldini, 22, of Suffield, were all charged with breach of peace. They are scheduled to appear in community court in Hartford today. None of the women could be reached for comment Monday.

McCarthy understands that tempers often flare during the crazy days before Christmas, but said it's important to keep things in perspective.

"People get upset," he said, "but you don't expect them to get that upset."

Police Chief James Strillacci counseled patience among shoppers and goodwill toward those vying for the same parking spot.

"It's not worth ruining your holiday for a parking space."

Holiday Shoppers Brawl Over Parking Spot

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - It wasn't holiday cheer that poured out of two cars, but rather three holiday shoppers who spilled out with tempers flaring over a parking space.

The dispute Sunday led to the arrests and court appearances for two women and a teenager for breach of peace.

Police said the confrontation developed just after 3:30 p.m. in the crowded lot of the Corbins Corner Shopping Center, home to Best Buy, Toys "R" Us and other retailers.

When a parking space opened up, two cars turned up to fill it.

A woman riding in one of the cars tossed an orange peel at the other vehicle. Angry words erupted and three people jumped out of the cars and, within moments, Officer Kevin McCarthy said, "all three went to the ground."

"It turned into a little free-for-all," McCarthy said.

No one was hurt, but Luz Alicea, 43, Jasmin Kurtz, 16, both of Hartford, and Julia Baldini, 22, of Suffield, were all charged with breach of peace.

They were scheduled to appear in community court in Hartford Tuesday.
