Crytek has always pushed the visuals of its games but in the great graphics Vs gameplay debate, Cytek boss, Cevat Yerli, believes graphics win and actually account for ’60% of the game&r...

    game play > graphics.

without that all you have is a shiny turd. And there have been plenty of those released in the past couple years.

Trying putting out the stunning vision of crysis with the horrible gameply of Alien:CM and tell us gameplay doesn't matter. Never played a crysis game before but tbh, I have more playtimes and enjoy the playthrough with games like Grimrock compare to Skyrim.

Graphics = immersion, i concur with Cevat.
Last level of crysis 3 = total immersion.

too bad Crysis 3 sucks at graphics. No immersion at all. Linear bland corridor shooter with 1 small sandbox type map.

At least the practice what they preach. Crysis 3 has some amazing graphics combined with linear, verging on dull gameplay.

FFVIII - Graphics wise by today's standards sucks ass but the story is damn good. Wish there were more game like it on PC

Final fantasy is a good example of how they swayed from bad gfx with fantastic rpg gameplay towards improving gfx and horribly bland and boring/linear (FF13 anyone?)

Personally i think games made today are too short. Many have great gfx "and" gameplay but are over very quickly or dumbed down making things too easy. And I'm not one who parks his ass infront of the screen from start to finish. Many hate it, but I'm in love with Dark Souls Prepare to Die edition.

I thought Farcry 3 was a best of both categories. But I would never rate Graphics over gameplay.

Sounds like he's talking more about art direction than like "realistic graphics". I don't know about 60% but in a lot of games the art direction of the game definitely makes up a huge portion of it.

Well, Crysis is 99% graphics... that's pretty much the only reason play through it just once and/or only use it for benchmarks because gameplay is not very good at all. I agree that graphics help make a game better, but they're definitely not as important as gameplay and using percentages doesn't make much sense in this case.

Oh good so there are backing off the graphics and adding to the game play on the next one?

A simple example of how wrong this guy really is.

Bought Prison Architect at the same time as Crysis 3

Got half way through Crysis 3 before getting bored, perhaps 3 maybe 4 hours max
Still playing Prison Architect and have so far logged over 90hours

The main reason I played crysis was because of the graphics, t'was amazing to push my rig and be engolfed in beautiful graphics. I only played the game once lol. Crysis 2 was just too horrible to play.

Graphics doesn't mean anything, gameplay is all. Had he said 20% I'd agree.

Gotta agree on this one. Was damn pretty mind-blowing..

You could say it's 50% though, 50/50, I mean.. depends on the game of course. Where the world and immersion is more important, of course Graphics plays a bigger role (and sound).

    Well yeah.. exactly.
