Hi all, I'm having a very frustrating problem when trying to upgrade my Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro. I reach the point where the setup checks for "compatibility", only to receive an error message: "An error prevented a required compliance check from completing. Cancel the installation and try upgrading again. Installing Windows will affect these devices or applications: ATI CATALYST Install Manager * " This is what I did (in order) to try to remove it completely: - Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall ATI Catalyst Install Manager - Ran the AMD Uninstall Utility - Ran Driver Sweeper - Ran CCleaner - Restarted PC, tested, still got the same message... - Looked for any folders with "AMD" or "ATI" and deleted them - Deleted registry key folders with "AMD" or "ATI" - Ran AMD Uninstall Utility - Restarted PC, tested, still got the same message... - Reinstalled AMD Catalyst Drivers/Install Manager - Re-uninstalled it from the Control Panel, went through first 4 steps again In my current state, the AMD Catalyst Install Manager has been removed (or so I think), but the Windows 8 setup still stops me saying that I must uninstall it to move on. I have also tried to use Revo Uninstaller, but the Catalyst Install Manager didn't even show up in the list of installed programs to begin with :/ Any help would be appreciated, thank you! Chris
would be better to simply create a new partition on your hard drive if you only have one hd and install windows 8 to that so you can still keep windows 7 and go back to windows 7.
