Ok, thanks. It sounds like I have to pull myself together and look into it. I've been staring at the default setup for years. It's getting a little long in the tooth.

 

It is not as hard as it sounds and once you have the steps and procedures outlined you can install any skin easily and quite fast.
I have all those above skins installed and I can select them easily.
Might have took a bit of work to get them installed int he first place but now they are all there.

 

Ok, I'll ask if I run into trouble, cheers.

Found some cool looking analog style VU meters. You can run them as a standalone application, in the Default UI or ColumnsUI interface of Foobar.

Unless you might have a better skin to try, I will try some of the ones you recommended and see if I can customize them to my liking.

Hi all.
I was wondering what your feelings are towards the audio quality of the mixer-bypass WASAPI driver in w8. I've been listening to CD and 128/256 streaming radio using 1.1.13 and I think that the sound quality is lovely. Bright and clean sound which can be amp'd loud without any perceived distortion. Is W8 using some new device driver (like WDDM 1.2)?

 

Try and follow any instructions offered by the author. Each skin is different and the instructions I posted are basically for the skins listed.
Try and figured it out, if you can't let me know and I will see if I can get it installed and write up a guide for you.

Running windows 8, and just put on foobar. Any optimal setting I want to make right off the bat? Should I be using WASAPI?
I have an ASUS DX sound card, with 2.1 Logitech speakers if that helps.

 

Sure, many prefer output plugins like WASAPI, ASIO, KS as they offer bitperfect playback. Experiment though and find out what sounds and works beat for you.

 

I have never put in a skin before, just because it seemed like to big of a hassel....however I love the one above...does it come with those vu meters.
