OCZ Vertex 2 SSD review OCZ is back to attack with a new SSD in that slowly saturating SSD storage market. Yes the Vertex 2 is finally here. OCZ has been on a winning streak with their SSD drives ever...

Now with Random IO 4KB WRITE performance the ball changes completely ... this is EXACTLY where the SandForce controllers kick massive ass, Random IO writes. Both the Corsair P128 (Samsung controller) and original Vertex (Indilinx) run into roughly 200 operations per second. All the way at the bottom we see the Silicon Power M10 SSD with JMicron controller (no cache memory) merely 500 write IOPS/sec

Do you not mean 2000? looking at charts it's 2000 or so.

Any plans of testing this against the Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB?
Also the lost of the 28GB was under impression this is for the sandbridge controller due to how the durawrite works, an page mapping of the data. Similar to Raid 5 like parity information.

Only a very small detail but they should include these with every SSD.

    Good idea.

    Thanks for the review.
That SSD shows unbelievable performance. It's so much faster than Indilinx.

If you look at the PCB closely, you'll see four pinout attachment points labeled: "VCC, TX, RX, GND." That would appear to be for a USB port, but there's nothing attached to it. It's too bad OCZ went to the trouble of designing the PCB to accept a USB port and then cheeping out and not using that feature.

Other that that, I can't find fault with this product.

Does anyone know the average price of SSD's now compared to initial release?

What block size was set in HDTune settings? Changing block size might affect linear test massively.
