microsoft being pushed out of pc gaming?

mantle, the steambox, pushing for the steam controller being the standard controller, steam OS.....

if so what could have caused it? windows 8?

 

Perhaps so, yes. Windows will still be used for PC gaming for a long time to come though....

 

Bigger and bigger players vying for increased market share would be my take on your post. It's only natural I guess.

I'm worried for Steam to be honest. If they mess up and do stupid crap like make HL3, LFD3, TF3 exclusive (to SteamOS) etc etc, it might start a downward spiral.

Suddenly we will be loving Origen...

 

Yeah Steam seems to be setting themselves up for a pretty massive fail. We'll see though and I wouldn't bet against them.

 

Windows 7 64 bit was (and still) is such a solid gaming OS, if they wanted to support gaming they would have made at least another Service Pack and would have implemented for W8 more gaming oriented upgrade incencitives. But from what I can tell, MS didn't give a **** about pc gaming for a long time now, and the fact that W7 turned out a good gaming OS was a coincidence.

Microsoft allows itself being pushed out because they failed to listen to their clients and no one at the top has any real visions how to impress. Instead they try what they always tried: copy visions from others, open a price war and push others out of the market.

Seems it doesnt work anymore. MS is dead in 5 years.
