Sli 470's hwbot xtreme preset heaven benchmark http://hwbot.org/submission/2150517..._(dx11)_2x_geforce_gtx_470_2481.23_dx11_marks
Wait...the top of the line AMD card running at twice the speed of the GTX 590 has similar performance? Seems about right.
Well I just ran with the same settings as them and came up with 2k so the numbers are fine and those fellas are just running their cards overclocked. Compared to a 7970 they seem exactly the same. Sort of lame but the cards we're the same price and I chose the 590 as it gave better performance in most situations at stock clocks, and then there is kepler around the corner to look out for Also this week will see if the 2500k brings any extra frames along
I scored 2659 with tessellation set to normal but everything else the same as yours mind you that is 3 X GTX 470's and core I-7 960 @ 1920 X 1080 at stock clocks.
That's some great benchmarking I think that we're gonna see something from the nV team in February that will pull some great numbers, and then there's improved physx and 3d vision to go along with all that... Hopefully they release the 680 first and then the other cards because it was rumoured that the mid range cards would be released first, such as the 660. regards, RagDoll.
@OP - generally with heaven, think of the first pass as a buffer run. its still loading everything up from your HDD. after the first pass is finished, do a second pass, and the score will be higher.
You can turn off or lower lower tess with the ati cards so you really have to be carefull with comparing the two brands in that bench
If the 7970 had lowered/turned off tesselation in the shots posted it would be scoring way higher though, and to be honest you can generally tell when someones played around with teselation as there's so many reviews around with overclocked 7970's to compare with.
Yes i can understand reviews but can you tell a lesser tess setting with a random screenshot? not allways but yes if turned off its easier to see. My 7980 runs about 2100 with the hwbot heaven bench or 2800 without tess and anywhere inbetween playing with the slider. 500 points lower then my 448 ti in sli or 400ish points higher then my 580 with tess set to amd way. not meaning the posts here just saying
The reason I say you can tell from clocks is that the next slider down from max tesselation is 50% less than if it was left at default so it does make a reasonably large enough difference to be able to tell, though other tweaks could ofcourse make it more difficult to tell.
I can confirm that the CPU makes no difference in this benchmark, here are the results with a 2500k @ 4.5 + 590 @ 640 Core Edit: Forgot anisotropy but it makes very little difference performance wise
So after reading this thread a 900 Mhz OCed 580 is still faster than a 1250 Mhz 7970. And nVidia still has to show some numbers of the 600 Series. nVidia 1 - AMD 0
1st of all thanks for the shout out Heres mine for comparison, Stock 612/1224/1713 Overclocked 700/1440/1728 Voltage 963mv
How did you up the voltage, mine is locked at 0.913, using 290.53 drivers. What are your temps/cooling solution? Edit: Haha I just remembered that it says "Voltage Tweak" on the box that the card came in and yet there is no way of tweaking voltage.
Modded bios, only way you can overvolt until an unlocked driver appears again. Temps aren't bad, stock cooling but changed the stock 140mm fans on my 800D case and bought some faster rpm's ones, has helped no end! Max around 80*c now. Lol don't get me started in that voltage tweak logo!
